Is IPL(Indian Premier League) help economic growth and development of India?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) (currently known as the Pepsi Indian Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is an annual Indian Twenty20 cricket tournament, founded in 2008 by the BCCI. It consists of a number of teams (currently 8) which are named after Indian cities and owned by franchises, and is held in India between April and June.

Well....Its a sport council buddy and it can't help the economic growth of the country. But it can lend its hand for social cause by donating a piece of money to charity which itslf will be a big amnt.It can surely help in sports development in the country.

Cricket and economic growth.......well there doesnt seem to be any connection between these two mammoth terms ......its like east can never meet west......
Sharad Pawar....BCCI head is also the agri minister.....figures themselves speak what he has done for cricket and agriculture....

and IPL is a big business bet for players, top companies, media and BCCI-THE CASH RICH SPORT BODY IN D WORLD.......who doesnt want to donate any amount for welfare of other sports in India.....see Hockey where it is heading to....(our National Sport)

well IPL can thus just develop cricket and only cricket......forget other sports and economic growth is way behind.

having a crush is like having a cigarette...
it starts with a flame, continues with a glow...
and dies in ashes..
but who cares... we all are chain smokers!

What i feel is that IPL is no doubt a business where the people with big pockets that just multiply their money,
BCCI also is just supporting and encouraging Cricket only,

But then if u see from the other side then,

If u see then the start of IPL has given employment to so many individuals who can work, it has also supported the Media of the country to grow as the TRP rates of the channels have gone up tremendously, which is indirectly going to earn revenues for the government in some way or the other,

where as, the BCCI are only giving the people of India wat they want to see and that is entertainment,

where as BCCI has also stated that it is going to promote the National Sport that is Hockey by the profits that it earns from the IPL so that the people of the country also gain more amount of interest in it also,

At the end i would just like to ask one simple question

If sports are not providing growth to the government that why does the government promote it? IPL being claimed as the costliest Cricket tournament in the world is of course going to earn huge revenues for the government...

hi there.... its a nice view point.... but let me just ask u one thing ... what about the others?????? .... u see because of the popularity of cricket other sports always suffered... and with all the money and glamour added in IPL by stars and businessmen... it has reached a new pinnacle..... but had such an boost or step taken for other sports ... maybe then india would hav been popular for other sports also.....

we can't ignore other sports or sportsmen for a few players or a single format of a game.... its true that it sells and its a big business.... but there are bigger issues than simply making money...... that's just my point of view

Its a sports governing body and it dont think it will help the economy of our country. It can help in developing other sports in our country. It can use it for charities as well.

IPL will surely bring in some money in india...but then noway it's gonna result in economic growth..simply because the money will b going in the hands of few people who already have a lot of it....in fact it results in govt wasting resources..like a match requires so much of security around the stadiums, hotels...etc.

IPL, Is a big marketing game. A lot corporate money will exchange hands. All what a common man gets is some entertainment. It will not help in the development of economy. It's all showbiz.....

it just help BCCI to make some more funds, nothing else,

and BCCI is not going to even use a single penny for the development of the society.

So Its sure not going to help economic growth and development of India

the revenue generated from IPL is peanuts compared to our trillion dollar economy!

Its stupidity to think that it will help our economic growth!

No way........... IPL, a BCCI-formed cricket league, will not help at any cost to Indian economy .............. They just need profits, money and enjoyment......... Whether or not Indian cricket improves, IPL owners will get crores of rupees by hook or by crook..........

With all the money and glamour added in IPL by stars and businessmen, IPL has became now like "PAISA FEKO TAMASHA DEKHO".........

So its very poor question Is IPL(Indian Premier League) help economic growth and development of India?

no not at all..... the only beneficiaries frm this ipl are the politicains, corporate heads, n the cricketers, and ya not to forget the tax ppl... pockets of these ppl inflate... this does not into any economic growth of the country...

cricket & econmic growth.....
i think both are in their own way........
why cricket will merge with economic developement of country though it has got the much more importance...
rather IPL has became a sought of entertainment for the mob who enjoys the T20 match..

it can be never and u cant expect such a thng frm a sport like cricket.......they r meant to earn money and a few people get benefittd frm tht....bt they keep on showng their patriotism by donatng a part of their income in th name of disaster...

y we need to c everything in terms of economic growth....... IPL is new born baby of BCCi...as of nw it just part of entertainment growth....n yes it hav been connected to economic growth.. n so its gonna be part of PG programmes...but still just a yr old baby n we need time to actually analyze the post effect..........wait 4 season 2............
