Is IPL(Indian Premier League) help economic growth and development of India?

I agree with Ankit Gupta.
We pay to channels for watching the game. We pay tickets to watch in stadium. We pay extra price on the brands they endorsed. And with the money we pay, players are getting paid a hefty sum for just playing cricket for 2 months of IPL league.
last IPL, we saw Mr Modi gave away huge donations to South African shools which was way too much for advertisements. BUT, we are also in fault, Since due to elections, our government did not took risk to have IPL in INDIA. But, if IPL would have happened in India, would Mr Modi still have donated so much money to Indian Schools?.

its a nice work.
by this type of work may be youth of india gets awakwn and do something that is really helpful in improving the indian economy.

somebody plz help me ..............
i m searchin for some unique and good projects..............................
any suggestions........

I certainly hope so !! I must confess that I'm not familiar with match days in India but here in South Africa you will find a huge group of vendors (formal and informal) doing brisk trade in all sorts of goods from food to memorabilia.
One thing is for certain though, these small traders appreciate the extra days of the year that their location is used for a big game.
I would love to broaden this question to explore the economic impact of all major sports events instead of narrowing it to one tournament in one sports discipline.

i dont think IPL is helping the the economic growth of india as such....the only people benefiting from this are the organisers and the team owners. you could argue that this tournament has brought in more tourists to watch the game but if they have benefited anyone its those connected with the game.....

Well ... controversies or no-controversies ... cricket and to be precise IPL surely is contributing it's share to pump in money in market ... the sponsors ... the media ... the organizers ... even the viewers ... contribute their share to pump in the Vitamin M (Money) into the economy..i agree there are ppl who are making money but market in also getting money in some form or the other

hello guys!!!!
I personaaly feel that IPL was a good initiative for a simple reason that even in the times of crisis i.e economic slowdown it was able to generate large revenues. Further more it should be noted that in the second season which was in South africa actually gave a lot of exposure to Indian companies in the global market...

IPL, Is a big marketing game. A lot corporate money will exchange hands. All what a common man gets is some entertainment. It will not help in the development of economy. It's all showbiz...

it seems there is no connection between economic growth and IPL.. it helps to companies, team owner and players.. but in some or other way it helps it helps in economic growth and development as if company makes profit it will leads to better employment and betterment in standard of living,,

IPL provides a great opportunity for Marketers in the form companies can advt their products both on and off d field. So it helps d nation in creating new demands. Also other sports can take a cue 4m IPL and can develop themselves on the lines of IPL and earn money.

Moreover, it ecourages youth to follow sports as their passion because of the money involved. Traditionally sports have been neglected as there was less money in it.

Its not only showbizz
It leads to economic development as well.
as there is employment to many.
even we can consider the domestic cricketers as they were about to leave their game.

Well economic growth as a whole of india isnt worth betting on but i guess , as per the overall liquidity flow in the market is concerned it has defintely brought about a change inthe world of cricket. However if the possible employment generation, taxes and related industrial growth form the sector related to the IPL are evaluated and an concrete data are to be found then we can have a say about its impact on the economic developement of the country as a whole.

Why all this criticism of IPL? Ultimately it helps the players showcase their talents and its bringing in loads of money.. so where's the harm?

IPl is creating lots of employment. V can c that bar girls went jobless due to ban on dance bars so ipl can play a role 4 them becoming cheerleaders.

Morover, even females r getting attracted towards IPL so d overall market of cricket enthusists is increasing. So, more Females could b targeted by IPL sponsors.
