i agree with you ma'am; GD is not just for analysis of communication skills but also the creative thinking & how a candidate interpret/present his/her point of view.

so i conclude that GD should be a part of campus placement.

GD is a process in which a group of people put their views on a common topic in front of other members of their groups. GDs can be prove beneficial for those who have strong communication skills, good fluency over language or have great soft skills..But what about those people who are technically strong n sound but don't have fluent English or don't have good communication skills. So what do u people say Should GD be Part of Campus Placements????

yes, definitely it s important parameter for which students should b examined

Hey friends, every thing have some positive and negative aspects. Same as GD also have negative n positive aspects. If we see the positive impact then it includes a person's communication skill, listening skill n leadership qualities. But if we see negative aspect then GD is not useful for those candidate who doesn't know how to speak English well n they have technical knowledge a lot but don't have communication skill so they are eliminated. GD shows how a person listen to other ideas n how he supports others ideas.

Group Discussion has been a part of the Selection process for admission into most of the top Business Schools .

The skills that are usually assessed in a Group Discussion are:

Communication Skills
Interpersonal Skills
Leadership Skills
Motivational Skills
Team Building Skills
Tolerance to Ambiguity
Divergent Thinking
Listening skills
Presentation Skills
Analytical / Logical skills

I don't think it should. in a Gd people just end up speaking want they want and not listening to others.
if they are on the other hand made to be a part of some management game where in they have to compete with another group, and they cannot have a leader then the true talents shall actually rise. rather than the ones who only talk.

Gd Should always be part of campus placements. its simply for a reason that, it gives the employer an understanding on how a candidate is. it not only helps to know the communication skill instead gives a brief idea about the candidate's approach, whether he/she 's aggressive. here when we speak about this we see that an employer will sometimes look for a candidate who has unique approach.
