am back with a new topic ... but this time it isn't that dark and morbid i hope so..
Do u think that maturity comes with age... like we generally expect teenagers to act ..hmm... like teenagers and a little "older" people soberly? Why do we assign the moods to age groups? Why do we look with surprise if a person of 60 is cheerful and fun loving with a wide eye and a teenager talking abt the philosophy of life like this =>??

How do u measure maturity? Is this measurable?

Wht are the reasons of maturity... is this life experience? OR listening to ur parents or grandmothers/fathers? Or through books? Or something else??

Suppose if there is high degree maturity in a teen.. then how should she/he balance it with spice... or keep the same mood? Parents want their teen children to grow up and act like adults.. is this ok?? Take the other example, i have personally seen extremely indecisive and immature people in their 40's.. and i think wht they have learnt from life? (Im not talking abt fun-loving, im talking abt inability to take proper decisions in 40's) ... Is it a sin to be fun-loving at an older age... why?????

Finally.. is this a myth that maturity comes with age... or there are exceptions?

The debate is in ur hands!!!! Ur comments.
Roshni.....my reply is , sure. Maturity is proportional to age. The debate could be on whether it is directly proportional or not. You must have heard of the saying "The smartest learn from others mistakes, the normal ones from their own and the sorry people do not learn". Maturity is nothing but learning what best to do in a situation .... both for yourself and for others. Some learn fast, some slow. The only reason there is an age limit for voting is so that the voters can understand the agenda, what work has been done in the past and then make an intelligent decision. Else kids would vote for the most interesting symbol.

Maturity is proportional to age only upto a certain extent. Otherwise maturity is a product of your surrounding and your upbringing.

I think yes..the statement holds bcoz with d age people get experiences and thats where thay become more n more matured n take decisions wisely

I think maturity =age*comprehension
At a particular age how we comprehend a situation , leads to what kind of experience we have and what do we learn from it.

I don't think maturity comes with age... its ones personal trait which more than age is gained by experience and situations we face.... i know some who are immature even at an age...

no i dnt think there is any relation in age and maturity... i know many people who r younger to me but far more mature than me... maturity comes by the experiences you get and situations you face in your life not mere by aging like an old tree resting your ass somewhere

I think, maturity is based on several factors, considering the age as the only factor is wrong, it depends upon the following things;

1. Place of birth
2. Upbringing by parents
3. Type of society living in
4. Infrastructure provided for growth
5. Type of coaching or tutoring offered

and there may be more but, apart from the age, the above mentioned factors do count in a persons mental growth/maturity.

haiii guys...dis is my 1st post in d forum well kinda intresting question n i bliev maturity cums wid nt age bt thru the envirnmental conditions an individual is brought up on

i've done some specific studies on human psychology n as per my research i find it tht nt all who reach the age of 25 (men) n 22(women) cant be considerd matured.......the factr of maturity is found in them based on the environmental condition dey r brought up and the experiences dey face during der lyf span.

i feel maturity has nothing to do with age...it is merely based on life experiences,,a person's lifestyle..the more a person gets hurt in his childhood the more early he matures...

A really nice topic i must say..any ways i just want to say that maturity has nothing to do with age..but general view is that maturity is directly proporional to age..i don't agree..coz there is no measurement technique for maturity...ok u can't say that any person is matured...coz there are no set standards for maturity..to b mature v must first define d check points...but still there might not even b standard check point available..i just want to make a stand that maturity is a life long process which just gets enhanced with experience...

i do not think maturity is directly proportional to age, because circumstances play a major role in making a man mature. for example if a man have never faced any problem, then he will never be mature irrespective of his age. the children living in slums are more mature than the city children, because they have struggled in life, they have experienced more than even adults. age can only matter if a person have seen and experienced life. an indifferent and reluctant person can never be mature and on the other even a young person can be mature.
