SMS culture-good or bad?

noways melory c i know using shortfrom is the appropirate way to send an sms like who has time to write the long words ha
but not in paper i disagree c our papers should be systamatic and imagine a paper full of shortform nahhhhhhhhhhhhhh (imagine the pain that out profs will take to read them)
i still cant understand why u ppl blamin the sms here only neways it is we who use the shorform n not only in sms but now mostly everywhere neways this is just a habbit get out of it

SMS is one way that youth can express who they are, text messaging is definitely a new way for youth to connect. Many say that text messaging is bad for youth because it disconnects them from social development in the "real" i.e. verbal, sense. However, text messaging is a vehicle that helps youth express themselves in ways they never have before. Its just a mode of communication.....and not the way to learn language

ya i do feel this sms culture is affecting mainly we r doing more grammatical mistakes while writting

well well....whoever said so dat learnin a new language makes u 4get the old ones.....
its totally upon u dude.... its like a fashion trend...u can hate it u can like like it but not escape it....
if u incoporate it in ur life as 2nd language its good....and if it can be used for business meets someday im pretty sure u (or any1 for that matter) wud'nt budge and fret on it and use it without remebering this post u typed for us......

SMS'es r meant to communicate faster...as everything else tis too has its pros n cons... i feel they make communication easier n typin in short forms doesn deteriorate d lang...cos v know d correct spelling of words...call it our laziness or to finish d mes as a single txt mes,v shorten d words..tts it..

today sms is d best way in management to send quick info anywher to anybody n i don think language is a prob coz its good tht d chat lang is very nice quick n easy ya but i agree smetimes it creates a prob also.............

it depends on the situation. but most of the time i don't consider sms as a communication tool and don't bother to read sms messages if i'm dealing with another job.

sms is a real good tool for communication. if it comes to difficulty in writing exams, the same form we use in chat also. then in my views if sms is bad then chat is also bad.

sms basicaly is sending a shot message not makin the words short neways i would not blame sms alone for this even when we talk online to any one in a messenger or something we do use short cuts n it depends from person to person also i do use such shorts words too

I also feel this SMS culture spoils even the school going kids and i see lot of people using short forms than the regular spellings. we should take care of people sending SMS eps. kids.

sms buzz is probably seems to be a good culture.. Its basically sends the message to the opposite party within a min ... If a person found himself to be a busy in meeting then the sender has to send a sms to inform him...

SMS is such a wonderful gift of the technology by which one can send important message in case of urgency or any difficulty without disturbing or letting know anybody else.

so cheersssssssss

yogesh

Obviously any new technology comes with its set of pros and cons....The use/lack of it depends on the convenience it offers....the very fact that SMS/chat culture is 'this' popular reflects the benefits it offers...the flip side though is what is evident from the very posts above in terms of the language and the abbreviations used..
(obv dis is an easier way 2 type, nt neccessarly d bettr 1....V need 2 jus set d rules straight wen it comes 2 educatin d kids n der writtn eng skills:)
