Recruitment: In LIC (India), the individuals who are 12th pass, who possess good communication skills or who represent an NGO are considered to be eligible candidates for becoming an agent.

Training: After recruitment, the candidates are given training in matters like:

 Communication skills

 Knowledge regarding the company and the product

 Counter objection

 Tackling objection

 Persuading customers

Motivation: The insurance agents at LIC are motivated to sell more policies of the company as the company provides various incentives to those agents who sell more policies.

LIC (India) has started “Go Goa campaign”. According to this scheme, the agents are required to sell a given number of policies from 1st to 31st of July and if they are successful in selling the specified number or more policies then, they are taken by the company to an all expense paid trip to Goa.

Thus due to such schemes, the agents are motivated to sell more and more policies and this in turn increases the sales of the company.

The agents are trained to provide quick service with respect to depositing the premium and settling the claims. Thus due to quick service, the customers are satisfied and happy with the service.

Thus the old customers are retained and through word of mouth of these customers, new customers prefer to buy the policies of LIC.
