Nestle S.A. is the largest food and nutrition company in the world, founded and headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland. Nestle originated in a 1905 merger of the Anglo-Swiss Milk Company, which was established in 1867 by brothers George Page and Charles Page, and the Farine Lactee Henri Nestle Company, which was founded in 1867 by Henri Nestle. The company grew significantly during the First World War and following the Second World War, eventually expanding its offerings beyond its early condensed milk and infant formula products. Today, the company operates in 86 countries around the world and employs nearly 283,000 people.

Nestle breakfast cereals are manufactured by Cereal Partners – a joint venture between Nestle and General Mills. Cereal Partners is one of the UK's leading cereal manufacturers and also makes many of the leading UK brands. You'll recognise many of our well–known brands, like Shredded Wheat, Shreddies and Cheerios.

Cereals are a great start to the day.

"Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper." Like most proverbs, this one holds more than a grain of truth. Breakfast is arguably the most important meal of the day. It is a time when we 'break the fast' of the night, which can be anything up to 10 or 12 hours. First thing in the morning our bodies have low energy reserves and breakfast helps to replenish these and to fuel us through the morning. In addition to the nutritional benefits of breakfast, evidence suggests that this important meal provides a number of other benefits to give us the best start to the day. An amazing 72% of all breakfasts in the UK feature ready–to–eat cereals.

The name ‘Herta’ comes from the German town of Herten, where Ludwig Schweisforth opened his first butchers shop. By 1902 the local shop had became a factory. The Herta brand was created in 1947 and by 1963 had spread across Europe. The brand was acquired by Nestlé in 1986 and was subsequently launched into the UK market in 1988. By 2000, Herta was the number one brand for Frankfurters in the UK, with over 150 million being sold in this country alone.Today Herta retains that market position with a value share of 51% (IRI MAT, Dec 08)
