Miracle, faith and hope can do wonders!!!

[/b]Miracle, faith and hope can do wonders!!![/b]

Miracle happened with me as I got the chance to pursue my internship at “Essar Steel India Ltd”, but if you ask me personally it doesn’t really matters that with which company you are doing your internship as this is the period in which you come to know about the working culture of corporate world. It is the time when you learn how and where to apply your theoretical knowledge to get the things/work done in the best possible way. As this is the chance to learn the working culture and tactics of your field. I am pursuing MBA from IIPM, New Delhi and I had the dream to do my first internship in some big company to know how they become successful and how can I apply the same logic to make my career more successful. I was appointed in the “Finance & Accounting department” in the company. I was lucky to have great mentors as my supervisors as I have done my internship under Mr. Swetang Shah(Vice President of Essar Steel India Ltd),Mr. Mahavir Singhi (MBA,IIM-A,C.A) & Ms. Lahari Soni (Manager, Accounts dept.), seriously it was a enriching learning & experience one can ever have. I learnt the methods of data collection, interpretation, analysis and it’s use in various departments. I have done the project on “Working capital management & Ratio analysis” of Essar Steel India ltd. I have done the rigorous calculations and churned out the findings i.e.; Ratio of debt-equity, Current ratio etc. & the ways to enhance it. I presented my findings to Swetang sir and did offer my suggestion on the further growth of the company which was really appreciated by him. It was a great learning and I can say that I am ready for the further challenges in my life & to achieve further success.

MBA Internship Experience at Essar Steel India Ltd – A Journey of Learning and Growth
(400-word summary)

For Shalini Prabha, an MBA (Finance) student from IIPM, New Delhi, the summer internship turned out to be nothing short of a personal miracle. Landing an opportunity at Essar Steel India Ltd, she stepped into the world of corporate finance with high expectations, dreams, and an open mind to absorb as much as possible. But for her, the brand name wasn’t everything—what truly mattered was the exposure to corporate culture and the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world business scenarios.

Shalini was assigned to the Finance & Accounting Department, where she had the privilege of working under some of the organization’s most respected professionals: Mr. Swetang Shah (Vice President), Mr. Mahavir Singhi (an IIM-A MBA and Chartered Accountant), and Ms. Lahari Soni (Manager, Accounts). Their guidance made her internship a truly enriching and transformative experience.

Her primary project focused on “Working Capital Management and Ratio Analysis”, which involved understanding and analyzing the company's financial health through key ratios such as debt-equity ratio and current ratio. Shalini was deeply involved in data collection, interpretation, and analysis, gaining hands-on experience with financial metrics that impact a company’s operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.

The internship was not just about number crunching. Presenting her insights and recommendations to the Vice President, and receiving appreciation for her work, gave Shalini a sense of accomplishment and confidence. Her efforts demonstrated that she could not only interpret data but also apply it strategically for potential improvements.

Through this experience, she learned how a major corporation like Essar Steel manages its finances and how decisions are backed by analytical insight. The exposure helped her bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry application, giving her a clearer understanding of the finance domain and her future career path.

For Shalini, the internship was more than a résumé booster—it was a transformational period. It instilled in her the faith, hope, and confidence to take on bigger challenges ahead. She walked away not just with a certificate, but with the belief that she was truly ready for the professional world and all it holds.

Her experience is a reminder that with the right attitude, mentorship, and a willingness to learn, internships can be powerful milestones in one’s professional journey—regardless of the company name.
