I am working on the similar project "rationale behind manpower planning in corporate function", well, the info on this is completely negligible! I am supposed to carry on a bench marking process to identify the policies companies follow to zero down on a no. for the employees in the corporate function.

I am doing my internship in a manufacturing company, and the no. of workers is easy to be defined depending on the projects, attrition rate, etc. but when the question arises for the corporate function people, they are the ones who facilitates the plants and processes, but how to determine the no. in these functions like,corporate- Finance, TQM, HR, Mktng?
because already the sub Business units have their own respective departments to take care.
Kindly help me to develop a
1)questionnaire to identify the rationale in corporate function,
2) guide me to how to go about the benchmarking and
3) making a model for the same in order to provide an objective approach to it.

hey megha, i have uploaded some files which i think can help you in your topic in a better way,
and as far as questionnaire is concerned, there are many questionnaire in the search option of site which you can refer or else you can tells us what are the parameters that you require for you questionnaire. once getting this thing clear we can help you more in that.
