BANKING SCENARIO :
The Banking scenario during the year was characterized by abundant liquidity, pick up in non food credit and a fall in interest rates including, the yields on Government Securities.
The downward trend in interest rates witnessed in recent years was strengthened with the RBI reducing the Bank rate from 6.25% to 6% and Cash Reserve Ratio from 4.75% to 4.50%.
Other important developments witnessed in 2003-04 are increased computerization of banking operation and greater thrust on retail lending.
