When GDP growth is negative for two consecutive quarters or more. For all practical purposes though, a recession starts when there are several quarters of slowing but still positive growth. The first quarter of negative growth in a recession cycle is often followed by positive growth for several quarters, and then another quarter.of.negative.growth. This definition is somewhat unpopular with many economists as it does not take into consideration changes in other economic variables such as current unemployment rates.or.consumer.confidence.and.spending.levels. The official agency in charge of declaring that the economy is in a state of recession is the NATIONAL BUREAU OF ECONOMIC RESEARCH (NBER). NBER'S defines recession as a "significant decline in economic activity lasting more than a few months" For this reason, the official designation of recession may not come until.after.we.have.been.in.one.for.as.ubstantial.amount.of.time. It is actually quite natural for countries to experience mild economic recessions. This is a built-in factor of a society economic cycle as spending and consumption are going.to.increase.and.decrease.along.with.prices.
Rarely, experiencing many of these factors simultaneously can evoke.

The report entitled ―A study of Maggi Brand Repositioning and Extension‖ deals with the study of Maggi brand that was launched in India in the year 1983, by Nestle India Limited, which became synonymous with noodles. This research paper tries to find a solution to a real life problem of Maggi to launch its products as a Healthy Product. It even helps to know how it reached the peak, declined and again repositioned it self. The introduction provides the company background, operational & other important information provided by the company which would assist in taking the decision for the right brand extension strategy for Maggi. And further how the consumer‘s perception about the brand today by research and questioning.

Project Brief Info -
Indian Textile Industry is one of the leading textile industries in the world. Though was predominantly unorganized industry even a few years back, but the scenario started changing after the economic liberalization of Indian economy in 1991. The opening up of economy gave the much-needed thrust to the Indian textile industry, which has now successfully become one of the largest in the world.
Indian textile industry largely depends upon the textile manufacturing and export. It also plays a major role in the economy of the country. India earns about 27% of its total foreign exchange through textile exports. Further, the textile industry of India also contributes nearly 14% of the total industrial production of the country. It also contributes around 3% to the GDP of the country. Indian textile industry is also the largest in the country in terms of employment generation. It not only generates jobs in its own industry, but also opens up scopes for the other ancillary sectors. Indian textile industry currently generates employment to more than 35 million people. If the employment in allied sectors likes ginning, agriculture, pressing, cotton trade, jute, etc. are added then the total employment is estimated at 93 million. It is also estimated that, the industry will generate 12 million new jobs by the year 2010.
