Facebook pulled the plug on its Free Basics service in India. Here's the letter that came to people who plugged their app and websites in free basics programme.

Your Service on Free Basics in India

Partner Portal

Dear India Free Basics Content Providers,

As we shared yesterday, TRAI has issued a regulation that prohibits differential pricing. As a result, we are no longer able to provide people with access to Free Basics in India, and your service on Free Basics in India.

Internet.org is made up of several different initiatives, and we are committed to continue investing in all of these projects. As Mark shared in his post yesterday, we have made much progress already, and will continue to make progress in connecting the world.

We recognize that you have worked hard to build your service to comply with the technical specifications. We will let you know if we are able to deploy your service in our other projects. Until then, we recommend that you keep your URL as is. Please note that if you are on the platform in multiple countries, this change will only affect your service in India.

Thank you again for your continued support. Please feel free to let us know if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Internet.org & Free Basics Team
