Hello Friends,

Usually most of the sports coverage is done by our dear friend milind, who does an excellent job. But tonite i will be talking about the games i watched.
UEFA Champion's league is the league for the greatest and the best of the footballing world - for anyone who is a football fan - they would know.

Tonite the quaterfinals was between
ARSENAL V/S JUVENTUS : 2-0
BENFICA V/S BARCELONA : 0-0

First i must confess that i m a big Arsenal fan and this match was one was off the hook! As my title says - it was the young players like Cesc Fabregas, Reyes, Senedros, Flamini, Ebigou who played amazingly to ensure that Arsenal moves a step closer to the semifinals. For any Arsenal Fan the team played to pure perfection. Arsenal was playing like the one of old - with SPIRIZT - it was amazing to see all 10 of the players make runs - move from offence to defense and back without stopping. Every player in the team contributed. Although much of the talk b4 the game was about VIERA and his return to Highbury but the young Arsenal team outclassed and outplayed the mighty Juventus side. However, the ending quarter of the match was poor show from the Italian giants as they commited fouls which costed them 2 red cards - they fear now for Capello (Juve' Manager) will be to get a side into the second leg. The italian giants were held back by excellent team work and coordination among the Arsenal team.

And How can an Arsenal Match be without mention about the great Theirry Henry - he got onto the score sheet as he does so often and so well - the match was a galore of tactics, team work and spirit infact youthful spirit. One must not forget to mention that this was also a part of the French international team - Theirry Henry, Robert Pires, David Trezeguet, Patrick Viera and Lilian Thuram - are all French internationals - ANd with the WORLD CUP coming closer their performances are to be looked at.

On the other channel was running Benefica V/S barcelona. the spanish giants were certainly the clear favourites however, Benefica have been the dark horses and have beaten a few big guns themselves to make it to this quaterfinal. Benefica's manager said that a draw here and they would ensure that they do their work in Nou Camp, Barcelona. the young Benefica goalkeeper was the man of the day ensuring Benefica a result they desired. However the match was not won by Benefica's amazing play but also lost in fact by the amount of missed chances by Barcelona. Barcelona were very poor in comparision to their performances in front of goal today and amazing sort of chances were missed by them in the game today. however, Benefica also missed an amazingly simple chance which should have been finished. the game however was great bcoz Benefica were amzaing and defensively excellent. Ronaldiniho was rarely given the space to show his brilliance and now the pressure is on the home team for them to do their work at home.

It was clear today that young stars are coming up - Cesc Fabregas, Lionel Messi are two who must be watched as they could become amazing players and make a mark from this season itself.

Hi frnds,
Sorry forgot to post the second day quaterfinals in the UEFA Champions League.
However, it wasnt eventful as expected even though three big names in footballing were involved.
SCORELINE:
LYON V/S AC MILAN: 0-0
INTER MILAN V/S VILLAREAL: 2-1

French Champions Lyon held the Italian Giants AC MILAN to a 0-0 draw which will certainly mean that the pressures on Lyon to get a vital win against the Italian powerhouse in their home ground. The game wasnt completely uneventful and there were instances when both the teams showed their class. Italians were certainly held back successfully by Lyon's defence.

The otehr match however could have gone either way but Villareal will certainly be happy to get an away goal against the strong Inter side. Villareal were certainly not the favorites but a 1-0 home win against inter will ensure they got through on away goals.

The 2nd round of the quaterfinals are gonna start soon and the teams weekend performances are certailnly giving an idea about their chances in the coming legs.

- Regards Nitin
