With Idiot Box politics growing, we seem to have a new situation. The Netas are now learning to mimic like some large portraits in efforts to don the mettle. Protecting some turfs is passé. We have a lot of noise from Netas on this count. Earlier, the Tiger also used to champion for some turfs whether real or imaginary and that seems to have been forgotten in a huff. The Neta families now forget the journey, but concentrate on a few high events and try copying the same in full view of the commercial news media which dutifully shepherds the same to public. That turf was Goondaism, terrorism, land/house grabs emanating from some select corners, if not all and this may have catapulted one of the Tigers to Netadom with other events falling perhaps later. The present day Netas would instead want to mimic their way like a mimicry artist, a bad copy too but the commercial news media in their idol worship would sing paeans about the commitment to Bhakti instead. No wonder all the fans of Game can clearly sense ‘change’ at least somewhere but the commercial news media with its limited focus would keep talking just about states facing electoral headwinds.

The issue seems to be about Netas not ready to accept changed roles in a fast changing polity. This while at least some of the select media are now clearly calling out little ground action by Netas in ‘opposition’ e.g. Chhattisgarh for example. In fact the media can be advises to change its terminology and start calling this as ‘spirit of Game is missing’ and that would perhaps charge up the Netas all alike since calling by different names seems to be bothering the Netas, a bit too much. Alas, the media won’t do any such thing and the confusion would continue to prevail. The commercial news media falling shy of asking some of these tough questions in the prevailing tough question politics scenarios is allowing for some very stupid situation to be choreographed by the mimicry artists. In fact the questions about bank defaulters on run and those trying to manipulate their way with the media and government looking the other way would reduce their own credibility. Already it is the Apex court which is worked up on specialized treatment to defaulters in jails with media giving the news almost a complete miss, rather than some of camera coverage for the same followed by the questions to the Netas on this public/Game issue. To say that such situation is likely to benefit these choreographers is falsified perception created/parodied in the commercial news media as the youths are clearly after jobs and farming subsidies. However the commercial news media feels that it can still control the ‘Game’ by selective projection of news by its own rating of importance of the same. Let the ‘Game’ evolve…
