THE ROAD TO SUCCESS[/i][/b]
In sizzling summer of June, stuck in traffic, wondering what am I going to tell my mentor why I am late? Suddenly traffic opens, taking a deep breath, spotted the office, searching the particular cabin among hundreds of cabin. But it was a big blunder.
'Sometimes there are
no second chance,
no timeout, no next time,
Sometime its NOW or NEVER.
I accounted myself in "NEVER". Being five minute late, was the most embarrassing moment where my hard work was neglected because of being minute failure in TIME management and also about lack of Microsoft Excel knowledge.
My mentor scolded me in front of all management trainees. All eyes were on me, for which I was highly regretted,
He said I won't be able to do this internship with such attitude. His each word was actually stabbing my heart. That was day I did mistake. Felt like everything is LOST and TOTALLY STRESSED.I talked to my Parents and shared everything with them .My Parents motivated me to try my level best without concerning its result. They were confident that I can I do it.
My colleagues also helped me what to do, how to do, etc. And even they assisted me how to work on excel sheet .At this moment; I understood the essence of Team Management.
'Stress is not what happens to us, it is our Response to what happens.
And Response is something we can choose at any moment’
Getting a big opportunity of doing internship in “TATA TELE SERVICES” after brain storming interview session, I can’t afford to lose it. Few people even ask me to drop the idea. But I told them:-
You are right it’s easier to say
‘SCREW IT, I GIVE UP THEN TO SAY SCREW THIS, I CAN DO IT.’
I NEVER SAID IT WOULD BE EASY, I SAID IT WOULD BE WORTH.
Walking through the streets of the city, holding a water bottle, visiting various SME’s companies, doing market research and creating a lead for my company was actually the thing I was enjoying. I was committed to my work instead of being interested.
‘There is the difference between interest and commitment. When you are interested in doing something, you do it only when it is convenient. But when you are committed to something you accept no excuse, only result.
Initially, I feared a lot while visiting various companies, interacting with people, roaming in unknown streets of city and most important work i.e. convincing the security guard of companies.
The security guards were strictly order not to allow people like us because their work gets hampered. But when I interacted with them calmly and convince them to allow me. They really help me out. I started planning my schedule, my area, my targeted companies, how to interact with them, how to generate my lead and so on. As it is said
‘Journey of a thousand Miles begins with a single steps’.
Stepping ahead one by one, my confidence level started building .Marketing is all about generating a lead ,interacting with people and telling about their profits .I visited in different educational institutes, IT Companies ,Hospitals, Constructors, Real Estate, Automobiles, Consultancies and the list goes on.
Later on, I realized it was a great opportunity for me to visit big companies, meeting high profiled people, business tycoons, sharing their initial phase of career ,getting a chance to learn what to do and what not.
‘I Think we like to complicate things when it is really quite simple, find what it is that makes you happy and who it is that makes you happy and you are set. Promise..!!
Initially, I could hardly visit 2-3 companies but later on, I compete myself by hitting 10 then 20 then 25 and finally 30 within a day. My Work Schedule begins at 9:30 A.M. After visiting these companies, I worked on Excel sheet for sending report on daily basis, fill all Questionnaires and later on searching the specific area with the help of internet to know where I can get maximum Companies because this saves time and work.
Again, A week later, sitting in particular cabin of TATA for the reporting session but 15 minutes before the schedule time with all filled questionnaires and updated Excel sheet work and also with fingers cross. Soon followed by other Trainees, our Mentor Mr. Arun Sharma with General Manager Mr. RAVI GURBAXANI .After greeting each other, the session began. Our mentor started telling about the performance of each trainee.
MENTOR-‘This is our Super lady as she did 70 SME’s company visit within a week. Her name is MANSI TIWARI and also generated various leads as Client called me themselves for internet lease lines , PRI, etc.
GENERAL MANAGER-Ss you mean to say-“MINIMUM INPUT MAXIMUM OUTPUT”
While this discussion was going on, I couldn’t believe it. Suddenly, our G.M. appraised me for my efficient work .It was quite shocking to me that he remembered that I couldn’t attend my Training Session of 3 days because of my illness. Well, I found myself out of the world. After the reporting session, we all went to Pizza Hut and enjoyed a lot and this time our mentor was also quite friendly at this instance. This was one of the best days of my life.
The journey of this internship was realistic and even highly pleasure seeking to me. I enjoyed my work, pain and pleasures. I loved to be with my colleagues who are now my friends. Our mentor, our cabin where we all worked, our canteen, etc. Initially, I did not know what I will do because I belong to different city though I don’t want it to be as an excuse; still it was really a tough time to me. The day my mentor scolded me, my self- esteem was hurt, I enquired a question of incapability to myself and commitment was the outcome of my pain and Today I did my Work while facing various challenges.
As management student, I deem it a privilege to have experienced a panorama of their cherished and enviable legacy. To undertake such a vast project and to accomplish it one needs quite a lot of guidance and support. I would like to express my deep sense of gratitude to all those who have helped me to accomplish this project successfully.
This “On Job Training” enables me to enhance my skills, expand my craniums by applying various theories ,concepts & laws to real life scenario which would further prepare them to face the extremely “Competitive Corporate World” in the near future.
It has been possible to achieve the perfect blend of the valuable experience gained from the workplace and the indispensable knowledge gathered from theoretical studies. Moreover the much-needed work ethics and culture have been inculcated carefully over the period of the training.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank Mr. RAVI GURBAXANI, General Manager, SME enterprise business services, TTSL.
