LEAVE ADMINISTRATION

Leave year
From 1st April to 31st March

Types and purpose of leave

A) Casual leave
Casual leave is granted for personal reasons. The annual entitlement of this kind of leave is 8 days in a year. Casual leave cannot be accumulated. The balance casual leave can be enchased at the end of each financial year.

B) Sick leave
Sick leave is leave which can be taken during periods of sickness. The annual entitlement of this kind of leave is 12 days in a year. However, a doctor’s certificate is required if absent for more than 3 days at a stretch. Sick leave entitlement can be accumulated up to 72 days.

C) Privilege leave
Privilege leave is an earned annual leave meant for rest and recuperation. The annual entitlement is 30 days in a year and can be availed after one completed year of service. Prior approval by the departmental and divisional head is required before availing privilege leave. Privilege leave entitlement can be accumulated up to 240 days/ 180 days for executives/ staff respectively.

D) Leave without pay
In case of emergencies, after sanction by the departmental head/ divisional head, employees can take leave with loss of pay.

E) Maternity leave
Expectant mothers cab avail of this leave for three months preferably starting from one week before the expected date of delivery of the child.

ATTENDANCE RECORDING SYSTEM
A computerized attendance marking system is followed in the company. They give a smart card at the time of joining to the person. To make it convenient to mark attendance, card readers are placed near the entrance of the premises. The first two swipes on a daily basis will be considered for the record.

SALARY ADMINISTRATION
Salary of the employees is directly credited to the account of the employee on the following dates of every month:
7th – for daily rated workmen, staff and trainees
10th – for executives
If there is any query on salary related issues they have to contact the employee’s service department (daily rated workmen, staff and trainees) or payroll department (executives).

LOANS AND ADVANCES
Company provides monetary assistance in special cases by way of financial loan on a minimal interest or salary advance. Generally, loans or advances area granted for the following reasons/ purposes-
• Marriage of self and dependents
• Hospitalization treatment for self and dependents
• Accidents/casualty treatment of self and dependent
• Important religious ceremonies like birth, death or thread ceremony of dependents.
• Urgent domestic/medical/educational purposes (salary advance)

HOSPITALIZATION SCHEME
All permanent employees and their families are covered under a cashless medical policy for hospitalization. This scheme is financed by the employer and employee.

CANTEEN FACILITY
Meals are provided at a subsidized cost at the two canteens for all employees. Employees have to show their smart card at the entrance for deduction.

A thali system and serves vegetarian and non vegetarian food
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served

Special Canteen- Cost Rs 6.00
Only vegetarian food (Indian as well as continental)
Timing: 11.30 am to 1.00 pm

Tea – Rs.0.50
Snacks – Rs 1.00

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT
Mukand’s kalwe plant is divided into zones and zonal chiefs are responsible for the safety and house keeping in their area.
Wearing of safety helmets and shoes in the plant area is compulsory. Employees are indent for their safety gear through their department/ division head.

Every employee has to undergo on the job training on safety and participate in a workshop on safety.

HEALTH FACILITY
Employees can avail of the; medical dispensary situated in the company premises. The dispensary is manned by Medical officers around the clock whose function includes:

Examination and treatment to employees and colony family members
First Aid treatment to employees who meet with accident and follow-up of patient admitted in the hospital

Pre employment medical check-up of new recruits
Medical check-up of employees who are on prolonged illness before they join duty

SPORTS/SOCIAL EVENTS
Employees can become a member of the Mukand Sports club by paying a monthly subscription of Rs 1 and avail of the various facilities for indoor and outdoor games. An annual sports week is held where there will be several team and individual competitions.



Employees can also become a member of the Mukand sanskrutik mandal by paying monthly subscription of Rs 2. This club organizes several social events such as treks, picnics, social service, cultural competitions, etc for employees and their family members.

FITNESS CENTRE
Employees may avail of the fitness centre of the company before or after office hours by paying a monthly membership fee of Rs 200/- . Professional fitness instructors guide the employees through their exercise regime.

LIBRARY
Employees can become a member of the library by paying a membership fee f Rs 1/-. The company maintains a technical and non-technical library and member’s area entitled to borrow two books at a time.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL
Employee’s performance and career map at the company is monitored and recorded through the quarterly appraisal system. The appraisal system is designed in three parts which consists of self appraisal, appraisal by department head on technical / managerial skills and appraisal by department head on behavioral skills. All quarterly incentives and annual increments will be linked to this appraisal. Recognition of the targets achieved by the department / division is also recognized through the quarterly incentive scheme.

LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
There is in-house training programme, administered by the company business excellence department. The employee receives a training calendar which mentions the various training programmes to be conducted during the calendar year.


To attend any external training programmes, employee needs to get their participation recommended by their divisional head along with the cost implication. The same can then be forwarded to the business excellence department. Employees are also required to attend one programme on housekeeping, safety, TQM every year.


IT TRAINING CENTRE
Employees can avail of IT related training programmes at the computer lab of the company. The computer lab provides practical training on ERP, MS Office and other specialized programmes. The IT related training is administered by the IT department in co-ordination with the business excellence department.


MENTORING
The company has introduced mentoring programme to make it easier for all new comers to adapt to the new environment and imbibe the values of the company. Every trainee will have mentor who support and guide them through their learning on the job and around it.

HR HELP DESK
The HR help desk is always there if employees require them. They are welcome to discuss any issue, query or suggestion with them.
