Should Hindi be taught in all schools..

There are many schools in India where hindi is not compulsory...
Specially in south India..hindi is spoken by very few..

Do you think making hindi compulsory in schools will help unite India ??

Will this help in overcoming the diversities we have in the country,..??

Yes i think that Hindi should be made an important subject in curriculum of all the schools as every nation try to preserve their national language. we all learn and want to learn foreign languages but very less of us would like to study Hindi. we all know that English is integral part of our life style and is the most commonly known language but we must also give preference to our national language and should focus on regional languages after that.
See people from france also use english but they use french as their major language in their country.
So we must make it a part of our education and should made it mandatory in every school and board and there must be less focus on regional languages.

Yes, Hindi should be taught in all the schools as it is our national languagae and it is our moral responsibility to preserve and promote our national language.

Perfectly said.."it is our moral responsibility to preserve and promote our national language"

Including it in the curriculum would not solve the purpose... Hindi is a language, not something like Science, Mathematics or Economics
What makes it even difficult to implement is there are so many different styles in which it is spoken - e.g. peple from North India have a different accent.
This problem is not just restricted to Hindi but ALL languages of the world

On a personal note, I would say put more stress and make English (Linga Pura) as the Universal Language for the benefit of all :o)

i believe hindi should b made mandatory in our subjects... every citizen ought to know his/her national language. if they can't speak fluently then at least they can understand n read n write. If we as Indians don't know and respect our National Language n rely completely on foreign language..den no country will know n respect our language. except that bollywood promotes our hindi..but gradually de r merging wit english

I feel our country is known for its diversity and we should let it be the same way . the only effort we should put ahead is that; Hindi to be made available in all school curriculum and if the student desires to learn it; he is provided with such facility.

Ours is a nation known for its unity in diversity. Let it be the way it is..

A proud Indian.. . :)

i don't know about moral responsibilities and unity of the nation, but even if only for convenience's sake, hindi should be taught at least as a third language throughout the country. its disgusting to be in a part of my own country (yes, this means the south of the country exclusing Kerala and AP) and not be able to communicate with the locals in ANY language (despite being fluent in four). making hindi the lingua france will be a lot easier than any other, so it makes the most sense.

has been declared that hindi is our national language then it applies to all state schools also that it should be taught as a compulsory lang

It is easy to say that hindi should be taught in all schools, but before saying that we need to understand the economics of doing that. When we still have a huge population who do not even have access to schools we have larger issues to worry about. 100% literacy should be the first objective later we should start talking about which language we need to teach.

Hindi is not national language of India
I found many people in India think that hindi is our national language. even some school books also contain that hindi is our national language.
but it is not the truth.

The truth is that there is no national language of india.
hindi in devnagari script and english are official languages of india.
but, hindi is not our national language.

Neither the Constitution of India nor Indian law specifies a National language. Article 343 of the constitution specifies that the official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script. Article 354 specifies that the legislature of a State may by law adopt any one or more of the languages in use in the State or Hindi as the Language or Languages to be used for all or any of the official purposes of that State.[3] Section 8 of The Official Languages Act of 1963 (as amended in 1967) empowers the Union Government to make rules regarding the languages which may be used for the official purposes of the Union, for transaction of business in Parliament, and for communication between the Union Government and the states.[4] Section 3 of G.S.R. 1053, titled "Rules, 1976 (As Amended, 1987)" specifies that communications from a Central (Union) Government office to a State or a Union Territory in shall, save in exceptional cases (Region "A") or shall ordinarily (Region "B"), be in Hindi, and if any communication is issued to any of them in English it shall be accompanied by a Hindi translation thereof..acc to me basic knoweldge of hindi shud be neccessary as to communicate with people more languages u knw more u will exceed in life:SugarwareZ-157::SugarwareZ-253::SugarwareZ-253::SugarwareZ-253::SugarwareZ-253::SugarwareZ-253:

dude you can go cynical about many things this way...some other person might say...before 100 % literacy...we need to worry bout the poverty of our country..or about being self sufficient..n it can go on. and on...!!!

the question here is... can hindi create a sense of unity among us or not..
and i certainly think it can...a common language of communication can go a long way to promote a feeling of togetherness...

yes absolutely hindi should be taught in every school of every state its our national language we should know it
