Before we even debate the issue of legalizing euthanasia, we have to think of the feasibility of such a law in our society and with the current law and order status in the country. In a country like ours where there is a loophole for every rule and a way to circumvent laws, legalizing euthanasia is an unnecessary burden on our legal system, which already functions at a snail's pace. Even if there are clearly defined parameters for euthanasia (which is actually very difficult to put together to everyones satisfaction) monitoring the process and ensuring that it does not get exploited by vested interests is a task beyond our country's capability. So the logic is simple here, don't bite more than you can chew. We have enough suicides and partially assisted deaths (starving an old infirm person/denying them treatment for an aliment) as it is, we don't need to legalize the process and invite more trouble.
In a country where it is legal to deny a person life saving medical intervention based on availability of cash, how can we be assured of proper healthcare for the economically poor section if state sponsored suicide/murder is made legal?
