Selective hiring by IT companies - Good or Bad?

IT companies have announced a change in their hiring strategy.IT Companies are going to visit select colleges to reduce the time and money spent on recruitment.This process will increase no.of students recruited/college.Is this a Good news or a Bad news?Companies are attributing the cost factor for reduction in the college visit.But what about other factors like attrition rate?Compensation given for students from Tier-2 colleges is always less than one offered to those from Tier-1 schools.Moreover, this exercise is going to create an undue recognition for some colleges.Ppl will crowd to get a seat in those institutions irrespective of the stream of study.Some colleges will become gatepass for joining a particular IT company.This will create an imbalance in the system.Colleges will advertise with placement figs running for pages.This kind of system will not give a level playing field to the students.There are diamonds in the second rung colleges and their chance of getting into the IT field will be thin.IT companies and colleges should try to address the problem of cost and should come-up with a solution.

well from point of view the scenario is totally different. According to me this thing has given an opportunity to students to prove themselves and they got an job opportunity way before they clear their final exams. This helps students to really used his educational qualification in his field of work, and as far as compensation is considered it is done on the basis of the student or candidates ability.For me it has reduced tension from the mind of student for searching for job.
 
Campus Recruitment should encourage all students to attend otherwise it will be a loss for the company only.
 
I think it is the good strategy for selecting the talented and skilled students. Visiting the individual college for the campus recruitment also provides good and skilled professionals to the company and they can save their time and efforts with this method of recruiting.
