Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Rotary club members provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Amongst the community service areas of this NGO, new generation service of late has been given due importance.

Strong leaders are made, not born. Leadership principles are learned not inherited. Through

CampRYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), “Leaders of Tomorrow” have a forum for teamwork, communication, and consensus building in an environment that challenges personal and team responsibilities. This leadership skills summer camp annually provides over one hundred outstanding college student leaders, opportunities to expand and hone their leadership skills through indoor activities, adventure events, educational workshops, presentations and team building exercises.

Salient features of such a RYLA include:

Providing an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders

Encouraging leadership of youth by youth

Recognizing publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities

Building individual self confidence

Encouraging youth to make a difference in their communities through volunteer work and social responsibility; and

Demonstrating Rotary's respect and concern for youth.

Learning how and when to lead, and how and when to follow

Goa RYLA – 2011, an Inter District RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is an initiative of Rotary District 3140 to be organized by Rotary Club Of Bombay Mulund Valley and supported by lead co -host club Rotary Club Of Mumbai Khar. 250 colleges going participants from all over India and neighbouring countries on first come first serve basis are targeted in this three day camp at an exotic luxury Sun City Resort in Goa. The Program covers, among other things , unique activities to train participants for Goal Setting , Communication Skills, Conflict Management , Self Confidence, Family Dynamics along with challenging games , adventure sports , beach activities , pool games , cultural night , DJ night etc. Many Rotarians will volunteer their time and expertise to this program because of their belief in its worth for our youth.

Rotaractors who partner in Rotary service activities participate in this programme, which is also open to youth in general. College going youth are at a stage in their lives when they are preparing for the transition from the managed and protected home and study environment to higher studies, employment, self sufficiency, self management and adoption to brighter side of life. Rotary works towards preparing youth for a better tomorrow through such youth development programmes.

The organizers are looking at youth to benefit from this event in the beginning of the year when no examinations are scheduled in the colleges. The cost per participant till we reach 150 registrations is INR 3600, after which the registrations fees would be INR 4000. This will include stay, meals, training costs, two Tees, and to and fro travel. More details and registration forms are available on the website www.goaryla.org.
