India in recent years have emerged as one of the biggest Oppurtunity provider globally and also has shown his capability to convert that oppurtuinty into a business . Retail trade will continue to show growth for the years as consumer will never stop consumption and also it is still unorganized in India. So, if we consider it an emerging hub for retail that will not be a lie.

well its gotta be reliance rsns for it

-Big financial player
-enjoys a brand name
-willing to risk and experiment in all fields
-is on high watever field it enters into

walmart going to rock once again... and reliance is a threat to them.. but others i dont think so that they will b a threat..

hi friends as we know retail sector in india is still unorganised. Govt. has not allowed FDI limits upto that much extent which really requires for growth of this sector. Since Reliance is the largest player in the retail sector in india
But with the entry of intrernation players will make the retail environment more competitive. Now taking future into consideration as lots of economists are arguing about the fact that india should allow FDI in sectors like retail, fmcg etc. so as to make indian economy more viberant. It is going to be happen in future.
Wal-mart is undoubtebally no.1 gloal player in retail sector. It has not created its impact in india yet. But it is cautiousally scanning indian enviornment. It has tied up with bharti to roll out its retail operations in india in cash and carry business. It has planned to roll out 19-20 retail outlets in coming 7 years. So he is playing slowly and steadily.
I really think that Wal-mart will emerge as a power in indian retail sector.

as we all know, the the foreign investment is still limited in retail, seeing rhe current economic trends, i think these are gonna be eased soon and then will be beginnin gof a new era. till then nothing can be said for sure. :)

The Indian consumers surely are a pampered lot! Hifi gadgets, designer apparel, delectable dishes and ritzy lifestyle accessories sit patiently, waiting to be adored and finally bought, as swanky stores try and beckon them to their posh air conditioned environs. The chic malls that house these shops accessorize themselves with all the facilities possible that could make the consumer's shopping experience a true out of the world experience.

As one watches malls springing up by the dozen in Delhi NCR (National Capital Region), India's stupendous growth in the retail sector literally hits one in the face. Lifestyle brands such as Marks & Spencer and international chains like Debenhams have never had it so good as these malls provide a perfect environment for their wares to be showcased to their target audience.

There was a time, some five to six years ago, when Ansal Plaza was the only mall that capitals' proud shopa-holics could boast of. Today, however, the scenario couldn't have been more different as major retail expansion is happening in Noida and Gurgaon. A rapidly growing economy, de-aging population, younger workforce, greater affluence, growth in double income families and rapid urbanization are making these regions the cynosure of global investors .

it clearly has to b walmart which is goin to dominate indian market simply cos its effective marketing stratergy backed by decades of expirience

Walmart is a big gaint but India is quite different than other countries .......Right now the recession has hit the market badly and the expansion plans are on hold ....so wait and watch the game......
