TWO WAYS TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM
Queen’s ofers two options for completing this intensive three-week program.
OPTION ONE Traditional Format (Three Consecutive Weeks)
This option is ofered once in the spring and once in the fall. This
option provides a transformational experience with unique benefts.
• You will have more time to absorb the material and to spend time
evaluating how the new concepts and ideas can be incorporated
into your own business situation.
• Three consecutive weeks allows productive relationships to form
and meaningful networking to occur with fellow participants and
Smith faculty.
• This option allows you to participate more fully in the Fit to
Lead™ component of the program. The three-week duration of
the program enables you to take in a wealth of information in
the areas of mental, physical and emotional well-being, and to
begin putting it into practice. People leave the program having
embraced signifcant changes to their personal lifestyles that
could only be achieved in this format.
How We Make it Work for You
At Queen’s we recognize that three weeks is a signifcant time
commitment. This format includes services and support designed to
help you make it work.
• In addition to regular breaks during the day, most afternoon
classes end at 3:30pm, leaving time during business hours to
contact your ofce if necessary.
• There is a fully-equipped 24-hour on-site business centre for the
exclusive use of our participants.
• The resources of Smith School of Business are at your disposal,
including access to video-conferencing, administrative support
and courier services.
• We encourage family or partners to visit on weekends at no
extra cost.
OPTION TWO Modular Format (Three 5-day sessions)
We understand that, for some people, it simply is not possible to
get away from the ofce for three consecutive weeks. That’s why we
provide the modular option. This highly fexible option enables you
to complete the program in three stand-alone 5-day sessions. It also
provides a higher level of curriculum customization.
To complete Queen’s Executive Program, and earn the Advanced
Executive Certifcate in General Management in the modular format,
you must complete the following programs in any order.

Classrooms and meeting rooms at the Donald Gordon Conference
Centre provide a functional and relaxed working environment.
Private bedrooms have queen-size beds, keyless entry, full bath,
TV, and high-speed wireless Internet access. For exercise and
relaxation, the Centre has a well-equipped ftness room and a
variety of on-site lounges, including the fully-restored, century-old
Coach House Pub.
Meals in the Centre’s dining room are always a highlight. From

SESSION LEADERS
Session leaders in Queen’s Executive Program bring a wealth of academic and real-world business
experience into the classroom. They include award-winning teachers and some of Canada’s foremost
authorities in their felds. As consultants, they advise some of the most successful corporations
around the world. They leverage their business and consulting contacts to include perspectives and
best practices of industry leaders during their sessions – greatly enhancing the practical nature of
executive education at Queen’s.
DR. DAVID DETOMASI - International Business and Strategy
David Detomasi is an authority on globalization, corporate and non-
proft governance, and corporate strategy. He is an active business
case writer and researcher, and is regularly featured in the media. In
the private sector, he has consulted with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
and The World Economic Forum, examining the strategic and
governance practices of the world’s most infuential companies.
MR. SHAI DUBEY - Business Law and Negotiations
Shai Dubey is Director of the Queen’s Full-time MBA program and
a member of the School’s faculty, teaching courses in negotiations,
cross-cultural management, ethics, domestic and international
business law and entrepreneurship. He is also a corporate commercial
lawyer and has practiced law at several major law frms in Toronto.
Previously, Shai was the COO, General Counsel and member of the
Board of Directors of Quicklaw Inc. He is currently the Vice-Chair of the KROCK community advisory
board and Vice-Chair of the Kingston Economic Development Corporation. Shai also sits on several
fnancial committees for organizations that provide funding to entrepreneurial enterprises.
DR. LOUIS GAGNON - Financial Strategy and Risk Management
Louis Gagnon is an expert on capital markets and risk-management.
His research has been published in several leading academic journals
including the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and the
Journal of Empirical Finance. He is a seasoned practitioner who, during
his stint in senior management at the Royal Bank of Canada, oversaw
the bank’s global interest rate derivatives exposures and developed
risk management methodologies and policies. He consults for a number of organizations, is
actively involved in executive education in Canada and abroad, and has been quoted extensively in
national media.
DR. JULIAN BARLING - Organizational Behaviour
Julian Barling is the former Associate Dean of Research and
former Director of the PhD and MSc programs at Smith School
of Business. An authority on transformational leadership, he has
received numerous awards for teaching and research. He was
elected as a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and named a
Queen’s Research Chair in 2002. In 2008, he was elected a fellow
of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and received Queen’s University’s
Award for Excellence in Graduate Supervision. He is the author of over 160 articles and
numerous books, the most recent of which are the Handbook of Work Stress, the Handbook of
Workplace Violence, the Handbook of Organizational Behavior and The Science of Leadership.
MR. BARRY CROSS - Project Management and Lean Innovation
Barry Cross is an expert on innovation, execution and project
management. He joined Smith School of Business after 17 years
in the automotive and manufacturing sectors with Magna
International, DuPont and Autosystems Manufacturing, where
he worked with a number of clients including GM, Chrysler and
Ford’s Premier Automotive Group. He led many key strategic
initiatives, including nearly 30 product launches, and managed ofshore relationships in Asia,
Latin America and Europe. His speaking and consulting clients include Shoppers Drug Mart,
LG, Canada Post, Enbridge and Export Development Canada.
DR. TINA DACIN - Strategy and Organizational Behaviour
Tina Dacin is Director of the Centre for Social Impact and a
Distinguished Faculty Fellow at Smith School of Business. She
specializes in the areas of business ethics, social innovation,
strategic alliances and business networks, specifcally focusing
on the topics of partner selection and collaboration. Prior to
joining Smith, she spent nine years at Texas A&M University,
where she was recognized for both research and teaching excellence. She has consulted
with companies in many industries and has served on the editorial boards of several leading
academic journals.

DR. SHAWNA O’GRADY - Human Resources
and Team-Building
Shawna O’Grady is an authority on strategic human
resources management, team-building, and the
cross-cultural aspects of international business. She is
an experienced team facilitator who is in high demand
for her original approach to team-building. She is also
the author of Border Crossings – Doing Business in the U.S., an award-winning book
on international business. She has consulted with many organizations including
Microsoft, MDS, Mattel, Shoppers Drug Mart, Enbridge Consumers Gas, Industry
Canada, BMW, Novo Nordisk, Oracle, Xerox, Bell Canada, GlaxoSmithKline, Ministry of
Finance, Canada Post Corporation, and TD Canada Trust.
DR. PETER RICHARDSON - Strategic Management
Peter Richardson is a leading expert in corporate
turnarounds and an authority on strategic management
and the management of innovation. His strategic
approach to cost management and margin improvement
has been widely adopted by industry. During his years
at Smith, Peter has authored over 75 papers and case
studies on strategic management. With Elspeth Murray, he co-authored Fast Forward:
Organizational Change in 100 Days. A previous book, Cost Containment: The Ultimate
Strategic Advantage, remains one of the few books to be written on cost improvement.
He consults widely for many organizations including BHP Billiton, Alcoa, CIBC Mellon,
the Supreme Court of Canada, the Auditor General of Canada, and Natural Resources
Canada, working closely with senior executives on strategy development and
deployment.
MR. KEN WONG - Marketing, Sales and Business Strategy
Ken Wong is one of Canada’s most frequently quoted
business professors. He has worked with the Strategic
Planning Institute at Harvard University and the
Conference Board of Canada, and writes a monthly
column for Strategy and periodically for Marketing
and the National Post. He is a 2006 inductee into the
Canadian Marketing Hall of Legends and past winner of the National Post’s Leaders
in Management Education award. He regularly judges “Canada’s Best Managed
Companies”and other competitions, addresses and consults with corporations around
the world, and sits on a number of advisory/directorship boards.
PETER JENSEN, PhD - Founder and CEO, Performance Coaching Inc.
Peter Jensen is an internationally recognized authority on high
performance. Since achieving his PhD in sports psychology, he has
attended eight Olympic Games as a member of the Canadian Olympic team
and has worked with over 40 medal-winning athletes and coaches. He is
currently the mental training consultant for Canada’s Olympic women’s
hockey team. He is the author of The Inside Edge, a book that describes
how to improve both your personal and organizational performance under pressure, and Igniting the
Third Factor, a book on how to inspire greatness in others. Jensen is the founding partner of Performance
Coaching Inc., a corporate training frm. He has been featured on ABC, CBS, CBC and CTV. Past corporate
clients include BP, Nexen, TD, Syncrude, Labatt, Hydro One, RCMP, GE Capital, and Royal Bank.
MR. JOHN MOORE - Financial Accounting
John Moore is an experienced and award-winning executive educator
who is highly regarded in the accounting profession. He has conducted
executive development seminars on fnancial tools for senior managers at
Alcan, BMW, DuPont, Canon, Mitel, Shoppers Drug Mart, New Brunswick
Power Corporation, Mountain Equipment Co-op, and Canada Post. He also
works with members of senior management teams to integrate fnancial

DR. SALMAN MUFTI - Management Information Systems
Salman Mufti is the Associate Dean and Executive Director of Queen’s
Executive Education. In addition, Salman is an Associate Professor of
Management Information Systems at Smith School of Business. He is an
award-winning teacher and has extensive domestic and international
teaching experience in both degree and non-degree executive education. He
is a former Director of Queen’s Executive MBA and of Queen’s Full-time MBA.
He regularly advises senior managers in corporations and the public sector, and is frequently featured in
the press on matters relating to information technology strategy and management. He has consulted with
numerous organizations including Bell Canada, Sun Life Insurance, Canadian National Railway, Accenture,
and Business Development Bank of Canada.
DR. ELSPETH MURRAY- Strategy, New Ventures and MIS
Elspeth Murray is the Associate Dean of MBA and Masters Programs at
Smith School of Business and CIBC Faculty Fellow in Entrepreneurship.
As well, she leads the School’s Centre for Business Venturing. In this role
she has spearheaded the development of the Dare to Dream Internship
Program, designed to kick-start graduates’ entrepreneurial ventures, and
The TriColour Venture Fund, a student-led early stage investment fund. The
New Venture Management course that she developed has been recognized by Bloomberg BusinessWeek
as one of the world’s top 10 Executive MBA courses. Additionally, she serves as a Director of Parteq,

TWO WAYS TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM
Queen’s ofers two options for completing this intensive three-week program.
OPTION ONE Traditional Format (Three Consecutive Weeks)
This option is ofered once in the spring and once in the fall. This
option provides a transformational experience with unique benefts.
• You will have more time to absorb the material and to spend time
evaluating how the new concepts and ideas can be incorporated
into your own business situation.
• Three consecutive weeks allows productive relationships to form
and meaningful networking to occur with fellow participants and
Smith faculty.
• This option allows you to participate more fully in the Fit to
Lead™ component of the program. The three-week duration of
the program enables you to take in a wealth of information in
the areas of mental, physical and emotional well-being, and to
begin putting it into practice. People leave the program having
embraced signifcant changes to their personal lifestyles that
could only be achieved in this format.
How We Make it Work for You
At Queen’s we recognize that three weeks is a signifcant time
commitment. This format includes services and support designed to
help you make it work.
• In addition to regular breaks during the day, most afternoon
classes end at 3:30pm, leaving time during business hours to
contact your ofce if necessary.
• There is a fully-equipped 24-hour on-site business centre for the
exclusive use of our participants.
• The resources of Smith School of Business are at your disposal,
including access to video-conferencing, administrative support
and courier services.
• We encourage family or partners to visit on weekends at no

OPTION TWO Modular Format (Three 5-day sessions)
We understand that, for some people, it simply is not possible to
get away from the ofce for three consecutive weeks. That’s why we

Classrooms and meeting rooms at the Donald Gordon Conference
Centre provide a functional and relaxed working environment.
Private bedrooms have queen-size beds, keyless entry, full bath,

variety of on-site lounges, including the fully-restored, century-old
Coach House Pub.

Session leaders in Queen’s Executive Program bring a wealth of academic and real-world business
experience into the classroom. They include award-winning teachers and some of Canada’s foremost
authorities in their felds. As consultants, they advise some of the most successful corporations
around the world. They leverage their business and consulting contacts to include perspectives and
best practices of industry leaders during their sessions – greatly enhancing the practical nature of
executive education at Queen’s.
DR. DAVID DETOMASI - International Business and Strategy
David Detomasi is an authority on globalization, corporate and non-
proft governance, and corporate strategy. He is an active business
case writer and researcher, and is regularly featured in the media. In
the private sector, he has consulted with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
and The World Economic Forum, examining the strategic and
governance practices of the world’s most infuential companies.
MR. SHAI DUBEY - Business Law and Negotiations
Shai Dubey is Director of the Queen’s Full-time MBA program and
a member of the School’s faculty, teaching courses in negotiations,
cross-cultural management, ethics, domestic and international
business law and entrepreneurship. He is also a corporate commercial
lawyer and has practiced law at several major law frms in Toronto.
Previously, Shai was the COO, General Counsel and member of the
Board of Directors of Quicklaw Inc. He is currently the Vice-Chair of the KROCK community advisory
board and Vice-Chair of the Kingston Economic Development Corporation. Shai also sits on several
fnancial committees for organizations that provide funding to entrepreneurial enterprises.
DR. LOUIS GAGNON - Financial Strategy and Risk Management
Louis Gagnon is an expert on capital markets and risk-management.
His research has been published in several leading academic journals
including the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and the
Journal of Empirical Finance. He is a seasoned practitioner who, during
his stint in senior management at the Royal Bank of Canada, oversaw
the bank’s global interest rate derivatives exposures and developed
risk management methodologies and policies. He consults for a number of organizations, is
actively involved in executive education in Canada and abroad, and has been quoted extensively in
national media.
DR. JULIAN BARLING - Organizational Behaviour
Julian Barling is the former Associate Dean of Research and
former Director of the PhD and MSc programs at Smith School
of Business. An authority on transformational leadership, he has
received numerous awards for teaching and research. He was
elected as a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and named a
Queen’s Research Chair in 2002. In 2008, he was elected a fellow
of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and received Queen’s University’s
Award for Excellence in Graduate Supervision. He is the author of over 160 articles and
numerous books, the most recent of which are the Handbook of Work Stress, the Handbook of
Workplace Violence, the Handbook of Organizational Behavior and The Science of Leadership.
MR. BARRY CROSS - Project Management and Lean Innovation
Barry Cross is an expert on innovation, execution and project
management. He joined Smith School of Business after 17 years
in the automotive and manufacturing sectors with Magna
International, DuPont and Autosystems Manufacturing, where
he worked with a number of clients including GM, Chrysler and
Ford’s Premier Automotive Group. He led many key strategic
initiatives, including nearly 30 product launches, and managed ofshore relationships in Asia,
Latin America and Europe. His speaking and consulting clients include Shoppers Drug Mart,
LG, Canada Post, Enbridge and Export Development Canada.
DR. TINA DACIN - Strategy and Organizational Behaviour
Tina Dacin is Director of the Centre for Social Impact and a
Distinguished Faculty Fellow at Smith School of Business. She
specializes in the areas of business ethics, social innovation,
strategic alliances and business networks, specifcally focusing
on the topics of partner selection and collaboration. Prior to
joining Smith, she spent nine years at Texas A&M University,
where she was recognized for both research and teaching excellence. She has consulted
with companies in many industries and has served on the editorial boards of several leading
academic journals.

DR. SHAWNA O’GRADY - Human Resources
and Team-Building
Shawna O’Grady is an authority on strategic human
resources management, team-building, and the
cross-cultural aspects of international business. She is
an experienced team facilitator who is in high demand
for her original approach to team-building. She is also
the author of Border Crossings – Doing Business in the U.S., an award-winning book
on international business. She has consulted with many organizations including
Microsoft, MDS, Mattel, Shoppers Drug Mart, Enbridge Consumers Gas, Industry
Canada, BMW, Novo Nordisk, Oracle, Xerox, Bell Canada, GlaxoSmithKline, Ministry of
Finance, Canada Post Corporation, and TD Canada Trust.
DR. PETER RICHARDSON - Strategic Management
Peter Richardson is a leading expert in corporate
turnarounds and an authority on strategic management
and the management of innovation. His strategic
approach to cost management and margin improvement
has been widely adopted by industry. During his years
at Smith, Peter has authored over 75 papers and case
studies on strategic management. With Elspeth Murray, he co-authored Fast Forward:
Organizational Change in 100 Days. A previous book, Cost Containment: The Ultimate
Strategic Advantage, remains one of the few books to be written on cost improvement.
He consults widely for many organizations including BHP Billiton, Alcoa, CIBC Mellon,
the Supreme Court of Canada, the Auditor General of Canada, and Natural Resources
Canada, working closely with senior executives on strategy development and
deployment.
MR. KEN WONG - Marketing, Sales and Business Strategy
Ken Wong is one of Canada’s most frequently quoted
business professors. He has worked with the Strategic
Planning Institute at Harvard University and the
Conference Board of Canada, and writes a monthly
column for Strategy and periodically for Marketing
and the National Post. He is a 2006 inductee into the
Canadian Marketing Hall of Legends and past winner of the National Post’s Leaders
in Management Education award. He regularly judges “Canada’s Best Managed
Companies”and other competitions, addresses and consults with corporations around
the world, and sits on a number of advisory/directorship boards.
PETER JENSEN, PhD - Founder and CEO, Performance Coaching Inc.
Peter Jensen is an internationally recognized authority on high
performance. Since achieving his PhD in sports psychology, he has
attended eight Olympic Games as a member of the Canadian Olympic team
and has worked with over 40 medal-winning athletes and coaches. He is
currently the mental training consultant for Canada’s Olympic women’s
hockey team. He is the author of The Inside Edge, a book that describes
how to improve both your personal and organizational performance under pressure, and Igniting the
Third Factor, a book on how to inspire greatness in others. Jensen is the founding partner of Performance
Coaching Inc., a corporate training frm. He has been featured on ABC, CBS, CBC and CTV. Past corporate
clients include BP, Nexen, TD, Syncrude, Labatt, Hydro One, RCMP, GE Capital, and Royal Bank.
MR. JOHN MOORE - Financial Accounting
John Moore is an experienced and award-winning executive educator
who is highly regarded in the accounting profession. He has conducted
executive development seminars on fnancial tools for senior managers at
Alcan, BMW, DuPont, Canon, Mitel, Shoppers Drug Mart, New Brunswick
Power Corporation, Mountain Equipment Co-op, and Canada Post. He also
works with members of senior management teams to integrate fnancial
accounting concepts into strategic planning. He is a six-time winner of the MBA Teaching Excellence
Award from Smith School of Business; a recipient of the Silver Medal from CMA Canada; Fellow of the
Society of Management Accountants of Canada; and the author of fve accounting textbooks, including a
study guide for students preparing for the CPA designation.
DR. SALMAN MUFTI - Management Information Systems
Salman Mufti is the Associate Dean and Executive Director of Queen’s
Executive Education. In addition, Salman is an Associate Professor of
Management Information Systems at Smith School of Business. He is an
award-winning teacher and has extensive domestic and international
teaching experience in both degree and non-degree executive education. He
is a former Director of Queen’s Executive MBA and of Queen’s Full-time MBA.
He regularly advises senior managers in corporations and the public sector, and is frequently featured in
the press on matters relating to information technology strategy and management. He has consulted with
numerous organizations including Bell Canada, Sun Life Insurance, Canadian National Railway, Accenture,
and Business Development Bank of Canada.
DR. ELSPETH MURRAY- Strategy, New Ventures and MIS
Elspeth Murray is the Associate Dean of MBA and Masters Programs at
Smith School of Business and CIBC Faculty Fellow in Entrepreneurship.
As well, she leads the School’s Centre for Business Venturing. In this role
she has spearheaded the development of the Dare to Dream Internship
Program, designed to kick-start graduates’ entrepreneurial ventures, and
The TriColour Venture Fund, a student-led early stage investment fund. The
New Venture Management course that she developed has been recognized by Bloomberg BusinessWeek
as one of the world’s top 10 Executive MBA courses. Additionally, she serves as a Director of Parteq,
the commercialization organization for Queen’s University. She is also the co-author of Fast Forward –
Organizational Change in 100 Days with Peter Richardson.
