In this time of recession what would you prefer:

Public sector job (more security...less pay)

or

a Private sector job (more pay..less security)

In this time of recession what would you prefer:

a Private sector job (more pay..less security)

both has its pros and cons....

Government employees often have access to various benefits such as health insurance, life insurance, pensions and paid offs. A government employee also faces a reduced risk of layoff and firings...

the disadvantage is an employee who works in the public sector may not earn lucrative....like the municipalities limit annual raises to 4 percent or lower.

while in a private sector job has many advantages... Employees have access to luxurious perks such as company cars, vacation facilities, exercise gyms, some firms offers to buy company stock, esops etc.. The employee also may be rewarded with bonuses and incentives on performance..

but the job security is less..layoffs and firings is common in private sector...

Well I think Private sector jobs are much more attractive and have more scope of an individual for growth in his/her career. I think the thing which make private sector job attractive is the good salaries, promotions on regular basis may be yearly or in 2 year max. Good incentives and other facilities are the plus points of private sector jobs. In public sector first thing is that corruption is very high you can not get job easily if you get job easily then also you have to do lots of extra hardworking for promotions rather than your job work. Yes private sector want hard work but if we work for them and give them our best i don't think money is a limit and we can achieve lot in private sector jobs.
I will prefer private sector jobs over public sector jobs.

Hello frndz as we know tat its a recession period going on, so on has to be very careful while selecting a job,i think that public sectors job are more safe and secured as they have some rules regarding tat they cannot throw their employees frm the organisation so easily, they provide many facilities to their employees and many other benifits.so i think tat public sectors job r more secured than private.

There is certainly more job security in public sector than private. But men with goals in life , set themselves out on a path of achievement whatever the risk in private sector.

Hi
We have to struggle a lot in the private sector but once you settle in, it is your game and you make the rules.
This is not the case in a highly standardized public sector

Hi all,
This topic is a nice one to debate...
Well both have certain principles and laws ..But during the time of recession people normally feel really govt jobs to be more secured.Even when i recently went for an competitive exam there i found most of the IT guys (from Wipro,TCS,...with whom i interacted)have joined us for the exam ,which was quite shocking but thats true. There is no scope of further development in Public sectors, its the same old work which we repeatedly do.So i go with our friend who have said before "Once you settle in pvt sector, then its ur game and u are the king".So work on your skills and start developing yourself.

Private sector jobs are better for devoloping
us professionaly. When we are a private sector
company we will copetitive and we will urge
more knowledge about our subject. But in case of
public sector job we will stick on to our assigned
jobs.

what i think is that both play an important role in taking India to the next era of industrialization. There is the way both the sectors work. In the private sector there is very much competition so people are supposed to work otherwise they will get fired off. But it is not the way public sector works on, once you are in the job they are relaxed. But now a days we see lot of changes even happening in this sector where the public ltd companies are competing with the private sector and the job is getting tougher.

Jobs tend to shape themselves depending on how we approach them. It's possible to have a very fulfilling role in a public sector job and vice versa, a very boring role in a pvt sector one. One of the major disadvantages of most pvt sector jobs, at least in India, is that employees are expected to have no private life whatsoever. there is a complete disregard for the emotional and physical well-being of the workforce which would be deemed abominable in developed economies. Public sector jobs score better on that count.

public sector jobs are any employment opportunities provided by the government that include areas such as education and public safety; private sector jobs are provided by any business owned by citizens rather than the government. Wherever private sector are personal business and companies that plays by an individual person. they hire the deserving employees by taking their interview and observing their qualification.

The primary distinction between public and private field employees is within who they work for. Public sector staff is those who benefit some type of authorities company. When people refer to tasks inside the public sector, they can be frequently talking about careers with the federal government. These jobs can also be found in both state and local government as well, however. Private sector jobs are these located with companies who definitely are non-government companies. These could incorporate each person companies and other sorts of business firm for example organizations or constrained partnerships

Keeping aside all the securities which a public sector job provides, where is the job satisfaction?
Private sector jobs ensure that the employees should complete the given task in a given time frame. In a private sector, work and growth are directly related. Better you work, higher will be your growth and vice versa.

Like others said, it depends on the individual, what is most important to you, what kind of impact you want to make, if you're okay with the downsides of each option.
