Mysore sandal is leveraging its market and expanding its brand.
Though previous requests were turned down, KSDL managing director A C Keshavamurthy said that the company is hoping to get a positive response this time. "Though there is a demand for our products like soaps, incense sticks, sandal dhoop and sandalwood oil abroad, we are restricted to promote our products within the country. Many foreign nationals buy our products during their visit to Karnataka, but back in their countries they don't find our products. Given an opportunity, we will also thrive in other countries," said Keshavamurthy.
In the previous year, KSDL had exported products worth Rs 12 crore, said Keshavamurthy. "Our flagship brand Mysore Sandal Soap, a geographical indication product, is growing at a rate of 14% every year and Sandal Gold Soap at 22% per annum," he said.
