Casco Bay Lines (also known as the Casco Bay Island Transit District, CBITD) is a publicly run transportation company that services the residents of the islands of Casco Bay. These islands include Peaks Island, Little Diamond Island, Great Diamond Island, Diamond Cove, Long Island, Chebeague Island and Cliff Island.
The company has a fleet of five vessels. Schedules to the islands vary seasonally. During the summer months, many more ferry trips go back and forth to the islands, while there are significantly fewer trips during the winter.

Casco Bay Lines offers many opportunities to get out on the Bay with a variety of scenic trips offering different destinations, durations, and departure times. Pack a lunch; bring your camera, binoculars, and a sweater.
Choose from a family trip with the kids to explore tidal pools or wade at one of the small beach areas. Escape for a romantic lunch or dinner, a day at the beach, or bring your bike and explore island life. There truly is something for everyone!

Tickets are sold as shown for each cruise through Casco Bay Lines and are available at the ferry terminal ticket office at 56 Commercial Street, Portland, Maine. All other music cruise tickets are sold by the performers or their agents.
Whether you're a tour director, a school teacher, or the father of the bride, Casco Bay Lines is the way for your group to go! For transportation to an island or a scenic cruise around the bay, you have a choice: you can go by our regularly scheduled service, or charter one of our boats for your own private ride.
Private Charters
Weddings, birthday parties, company outings, and all kinds of special events are always more fun on a boat! We can accommodate groups of 25 to 275 on a private cruise around the bay or transportation to an island, with plenty of room for food and entertainment on the way.
Casco Bay Lines provides the boat and crew and, if you like, complete bar service; you book a caterer or bring your own food, and hire a band or DJ if you'd like to do a little dancing! See our list of caterers and entertainers who have made past charters memorable.

There will be an additional charge of $150 for any charter with a bar.
A charge of $350-$450 shall be made for each extra hour.
The above prices include 1 hour of set-up time. Extra set-up time per hour is $150 for the Island Romance, $200 for the Bay Mist.
When a Casco Bay Lines Island Lobster Bake is included in the charter, one layover hour will not be charged (4 hours for the price of 3).

Group Tours
If you have a group of 20 or more going on our regularly scheduled service, please contact us to book your group. Although we do not accept reservations and cannot guarantee you passage, by booking your group we can avoid overcrowding the boat and ensure that we have enough crew members on board. If you have a very large group (50 or more), a private charter may be more comfortable and cost effective for you. The Sales Director will be happy to help you make the best choice.
Discounted group rates are available for groups of 20 or more on cruise tickets only. Please note that group rates are not available for round trip tickets to an island. Your group must be booked to qualify for group rates. See our Scenic Cruises page for more information about cruises.
About Maine Lobster Bake Cost per Person
Location: Peaks Island, Greenwood Gardens
Duration: Usually 3-4 hours, unless other arrangements are made
Group Size: Minimum of 50, maximum of 400 people
Groups of 50-74: $46 per person
Groups of 75-99: $44 per person
Groups of 100+: $42 per person
(Price includes site rental, taxes and gratuities, but does not include the cost of transportation)

Group Sizes
Groups of 50 to 400 can be accommodated at a private site for an afternoon or evening of feasting by the sea. Smaller groups (under 100) can take the regular Casco Bay Lines commuter ferry to Peaks Island, or charter your own boat for a little sightseeing on your own schedule.
Location
From the landing at Peaks Island, it's just a short walk (about 1/8 of a mile) to Greenwood Gardens, a former turn-of-the-century summer playhouse converted into a charming, rustic event facility owned and operated by the Peaks Island Lions Club.
The site provides seating inside the playhouse building for 220 people, under the pavilion for 160, and outdoors for another 160, overlooking the harbor and the Portland skyline. Play volleyball or horseshoes, wander the island's roads and paths, or just relax and watch the boats on the bay. You can even hire a band or DJ to jazz up your lobster bake!
Food
Here you'll enjoy a classic Down East feast of luscious lobster with all the trimmings: steamed clams, drawn butter, clam broth, corn on the cob, coleslaw, boiled potatoes, rolls, coffee, tea, punch, and fresh Maine blueberry cake. For those who prefer, steak, chicken, vegetarian and children's meals are also available. Everything is served in casual buffet style.
