A BPO company in India has stopped looking for staff in India. It has gone for mass recruitment abroad. This Indian BPO company is making large-scale recruitment of foreign nationals -- from countries like Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Malaysia -- for a high-end financial services and content development centre in Gurgaon.
Harish Bijoor, the Bangalore-based strategy consultant says that talent for high-end BPO work in India difficult to obtain and saw many foreigners eager to work in India, and hence this idea of recruiting foreigners. The BPO company has already recruited over 180 staff, at salaries slightly higher than their Indian counterparts, for the same job profile. But NASSCOM president, Kiran Karnik, said, that there is no reason for the BPO company to recruit from abroad, as there was still a lot of talent in India for high-end BPO work.
