No Oscar for Indian movies.why?

No Indian movie has received Oscar Award.But we are able to produce large no.of box office hits even across the world.Lagaan and Devdas are
good examples.Both the movies are a run-away box office hit.But they are nt able to corner one of the Oscar awards.But we are seeing movies like Jurassic park,Titanic are able to get Oscars on almost all the departments.

Where are we lagging.Are our Directors/Artists nt efficient enough to meet the OScar standards or the Oscar commitee is biased enough to give Oscar for any Indian films?


My thought:

we are still concentrating on the collection point of view and almost all our stories are hero-centric stories with lot of magic with no logic,Glamour factor.Moreover,the use of technology or animation is very limited in general in Indian Films.More to it,the screenplay of the Indian films are good but still it can't be compared with the Hollywood movies.we don't produce movie based on historical subjects.But regarding the budget, we are on par with the English movies.So we need to think beyond the ordinary stories and come-up with the something that will be informative and also must be portrayed in such a manner that it shudn't bore the audience.

i agree with you, bollywood movies are with magic but no logic ! it may be filled with glitz and glamour but has no content. its like those stereotype movies portrayed with th same plot again n again.
though Indians love it, it isnt recognised in th West. Our films lacks content. its not necessary to use best latest technology, but simple movies can be made extraordinary too, but with proper logic n creative ideas. Bollywood has th tendency to copy each n every thing. arent v creative enuff, or mere dummies !?

i fail to understand why a person like Karan johar who has immense talent produces th same kind of movies again n again. he has th ability to make movies in lines of mira nair/deepa mehta. Seriously i wud love to see an offbeat or a cult movie made by KJo.
 
in india the tastes of the ordinary film going audience has a very different tasete as compared to the oscar jury.... wat works for our audience doesnt work for them.... our movies are full of songs n dances which mite nt appeal to them.... probably the movies we send for the nominations are wrong.... instead of choosing hit films v shud send oscar standard movies in nomination....
 
Even though v hvnt won an oscar lately ...v hv movies dat hv had da potential 2 win !! Like Rang de basanti, Lagaan,Black etc... U cant really blame da Indian film Industry bt da kinda movies made r da kinda movies dat r demanded in majority of da parts in our country! Bollywood makes largest no of movies per year than any other place in da world! So wat if v didnt get oscars v hv some gr8 movies! & thn der is always hope 2 get better!
 
yes its good that indian directors have given many block buster hits but stil they r not able to reach upto Oscar that's because they simply focus on making large number of movies and that's why their quality goes down.

so according to me they shld just focus on making quality movie rather than making many movies then they will definitely reach the OSCARS:SugarwareZ-064:
 
the movies that compete in the international film category are the best of movies from various countries around the world.............
and the judges there do see the quality of each film being screened............
u can also see the other movies also competing n then decide the total validity of indian movies for the oscars.............
 
I gues in India recognition lies in earning more bucks at th box office rather than making an off-beat movie which achieves mediocre success.
Indian directors do have talent .. accepted ! I think they are compelled to make song-dance sequence movies cuz th indian audience loves it that way.

the key here lies in th maturity of Indian audience. Th more mature th audience, obviously we will have movies with good content.
 
c even i think in the same line i blame the indian audience only (the movie app ka saroor is an realy good example of this)
c the directors r only tryin to make a movie for the indian audience n not for oscar
they make for wat demand is there but still there have been good movie also
n i dont think that technology play that a important role the story does the content thatz more imporstant simple movies also win oscar or get nominated
like that first marathi movie that got nominated (swas not sure if that right)
 
Indian Movies are made for Indian Audiance, as lot of viewrs are in Non Metros and they like this movies with out any logic with Lots of Magic

If Movies are made for oscar than it dosen't do much business in India

We can't pass the blame to the audiences.For E.g the movie Titanic which has won oscars has done exceptional in India.It has got a positive response in India.Indian audiences have grown and can accept globally acclaimed movies.

i dont know wat to say her deepak Indian audience r the one to be blamed
oki let take the movies that went to oscar Paheli it was not a hit but did reveal an indian touch but the audience did not like it that much as they do like the masala filmz
we have realy good directors best actors but these ppl r workin n doing best to entertain the indain audience n they make for wat demand is there no one wants to take up a risky proj not all the directors
 
well wat to say.....coz oflate though our movies are good in content but i feel we definitely lack in technology.....jus compare some hollywood action films n our films r no where.....n other thg is tht the movie tht shld be sent to the oscars shd b the kind of a movie tht can compete with other foreign films
 
C 4 da technology part of it v r improvin n really the stories dat come from our country r somethin unique many a times n technology cant make a movie oscar ok it has a role 2 play 2 not denyin dat but stil yaa Indian movies r not far behind n i dnt understand y dis hype bout da oscars a movie may b brilliant n yet not win oscars 4 other reasons doesnt make da movie any less of a Hit! N lets not just b so harsh 2 Indian cinema, 4 da quality of many movies r international standards off lately in past decade atleast things hv improved!
 
indian movies are more about extravagant sets, big national stars, stupid action sequences, misplaced song sequences..... and mostly no storylines or copied ones
 
yes i agree wit u but i think the main coz is the communication problem. The movies in INdia are all in hindi language which judjes dont understand and then we have translate it in english which affects its dialoges....
 
There are indian movies tht deserve oscars, jst tht they do not get enuf publicity in the correct way. All hindi movies are tght to be cliched...musicals with ppl singing songgs running around tree's
 
I feel there are 2 reasons for it.

The first one is that most of the Indian movies are re-make of their corresponding bollywood flicks. Directors and producers simply copy the whole thing as it is. The recently launched govinda and salman starrer 'partner' is a ditto copy of will smith's 'hitch'

Most of the the movies are based on over-used formulae of love triangles and love tragedies, completely away from real life. The producers do not take much effort to try out something new.

Only few movies like lagan, which was a great success managed to try out new concepts and one can see their success that it was nominated for oscar. I think the indian film industry needs to re-think on the quality of its movies.

The second reason that is probable is racialism that despite everything, there is a tinge of racialism that can be seen in any activity.
