  • Clarity of objectives,quantifiability of results,Predictibility of interfaces Repetitiveness of activities are the 4 criteria.


  • In Routine control the objectives are clear, result quantifiable, interfaces predictable,,& activities repeated.

  • In Expert Control all criteria are fulfilled except the criterion that the activities are not repetitive.

  • Experts are the people who have in depth knowledge about procedures & processes & hence capable of exercising control.
  • In trial & error control standard operating procedures cannot be devised.
  • Intuitive control is seen in project based NPOs where each project is unique & each project has to be approved by top management.


  • Political control generally occurs at the top level where the objectives get clarified.

  • Judgemental control is used when objectives are clear but results non quantifiable.

  • Control system for Empowerment,Innovation & Creativity.
