hi, this is shilpi. I am in urgent need for the solution of this case study.
The analysis made by the “CHARGE” survey group about the company “METER” who are the manufacturer of diversified engineering products and are also in to different areas of project consultancy and implementation. Having a versatile customer group, such has industries, government organizations, and individuals. The manufacturing units are spread all over the country the major unit is at Bhopal.
The outcomes of the survey are as follows:
A diversified engineering firm in central India was losing money on projects due to poor budgeting, large write-offs in chargeable time, and tax collections.
Project costs were soaring since Project Managers were performing many technical project activities normally handled by lower level staff engineers.
Outdated project documentation systems led to inefficient use of a large, costly, administrative staff that performed the “busy work” of maintaining duplicate systems, creating manual project logs, and preparing time consuming management reports.
Staff utilization rates of technical personnel averaged 83% and managers routinely overestimated budget vs. actual hours on projects.
Questions to ponder:
Perform a “root cause” analysis that delineated all barriers influencing the cost, delivery, management, and staffing of projects.
Work closely with management on project estimating techniques to improve accuracy of proposal commitments.
Develop tools for Project Managers to utilize in tracking estimated vs. actual performance on jobs in hours and Rupees.
Develop incentive based compensation programs to reduce fixed costs, promote teamwork, and improve collections by rewarding project managers and project staff on their ability to deliver projects on time and under budget.
Upgrade project documentation system which can reduce administrative personnel support requirements by 50%.
