Rationale


Services marketing, once a tiny academic field championed by just a handful of novel professors, has become a blooming branch today. Paralleling growing research efforts in both the academia and the business arena have focused attention towards the different aspects of managing services organizations, including perking up marketing of banking, insurance and financial services.

Marketing of services in itself is a very dynamic discipline. In Indian service sector, many changes have taken place in the last two years like- the retailing sector has taken off with malls and multiplexes multiplying, major consolidations in BPO sector, the no. of airlines in India has more than doubled etc. This makes the basis of the services sector to be in the limelight.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management as a part of its “Continuous Corporate Interface” wish to organize the seminar keeping the objective to study and appreciate titles relating to:

1. Marketing of services from the customer and the organization’s viewpoint.

2. Service strategies post globalization in India.

3. Potential in the Indian Service Sector

OBJECTIVES
:

* To offer a round-table for educators and imminent executives to converse on the title Marketing of Services keeping in view the Indian and the global context.

* Implications of WTO in service industry as a whole.

* To bestow the techniques of Services Marketing to enhance the learning experience of prospective entrepreneurs.


* To investigate techniques of erecting more undeviating, performance oriented simulation-learning techniques using current trends in services marketing.


* To engender outlook on the schema of encouraging and facilitating the skills pertaining to services marketing.

* To spawn an assortment of marketing techniques across key twigs of management.

* To understand the strategic growth attainable in the globalized scenario pertaining to marketing of services.



FUTURE OUTCOME :

It is expected that the deliberations in the seminar will provide insights into the area of “Marketing of Services” for the Marketing academicians and professionals, policy planners and students from business schools.
