IT sector in india ia a growing sector with great revenue. Current recession in the economy cannot bring down the progress.

It looks that AICTE is going to apply breaks on new Computer Science/IT based Engineering Courses. There are many colleges even without faculty.

i guess the current recession is a very temporary thing.. things should b fine soon v just need to find different opportunities in the time on crisis

Dear All

All the IT firm is going slow in this recession since many of them is US dependant, worst hit is Satyam, they should strategies in future to go for other countries as well as infosys, TCS have done. This is not an IT recession but a overall market recession which have some indirect effect on IT companies focus on indian market. As per pundits, it will last till the end of 2009 or even by 2010. Beware.......

IT sector will soon come out of the downfall as soon as the global recession gets over.............................................

The best way to tide out of the crisis is to make proper use of the resources in IT companies and cut down the unnecessary costs w/o employee firing. The crisis is good in one aspect in the sense ppl have come to know really abt the IT sector and the way the resources are getting wasted. All this will end soon after the crisis. Moreover, matrimonial sector will see sme huge change and parents who are demanding that the groom must be frm IT sector will start seeing the other sectors as well. This is the saturation for IT sector.Thx to the crisis.

To me, this recession is a blessing in disguise for it will allow the top heavy IT sector to re-look at their management structure and will force them to move up the value chain. The trend is already visible in companies like TCS, Wipro and Infy where they have puushed up the efficiency of the enginners and also ventured into niche areas like IT strategy and business consulting. This would reinforce the advantage and cost effectiveness in the business.

yup. in the end, effectiveness(getting the work done) is not everything. What is needed is efficiency (doing work with minimum cost/max profit). thats not presently there in Indian IT companies as is very much apparent. this needs to be ininculcated. efficient use of resources. switching to open source softwares, distributed computing, etc is the way forward.

Well the IT slowdown is due to the global crisis and cost cutting with in the IT sector. As thing improve the IT sector will be business as usual. Though many companies are recruiting in this scenario and laying off too.

There is one thing for sure... Hiring for freshers is on rise, may be the ompanies are ready to train these people instead of paying huge foe old employees so they are doing away from old employees...also they might be looking towards saving on paying Year end bonus...

Both IT and ITES sector have overcome the problem of unemployment by providing employment to huge mass of population.
