Is the quota system for higher studies justified?

Well..It seemms that all the efforts of the protesting students are in vain. The govt has decided that quotas will be starting from June 07 acc to d newspapers 2day. The only consolation is that they are planning to increase the seats but I have no idea how they will go about doing that considering the shortage of faculty, hostels and basic infrastructure in institutes...
I guess in this life I will try to do a lot of Punya so that I'm born an OBC in d next life...as I dont c any end to reservations....
Hope that all d politicians supporting this will pay for this severely :rip:

The trouble is that our MHRD are so blind and conventional in thei methods that any scientific methods do not ring a bell on their ears. In my las post, i posted a very nice article which dealt with this reservation issue quite subtly and in an intellectual way.
Probably, now wat we need is to give way for younger generation of ministries, who can think on a broader base and not stick to their conventional ridiculous ideas. These oldies are simply useless!

There's one question that has been bugging me for some time .. and would like to know in implicit terms .. what u guys think
suppose the quota is implemented .. and u and ur friend are writing cat . u both are comeptitiors and both are equally competent.. the only thing is ur friend is an obc .. but he doesnt want to take support of reservation as he thinks its unethical .. he says no to crutches and wants to fite for the general category seat..
now tell me guys will u be proud of ur friend or will u be unhappy that he is competing for ur seat .. when he has seats reserved for him..

HAVEN'T GVN CAT YET, BUT HAAN HAD A HEART BURNING EXP IN MY MEDICINE COUNSELLING.....
the fact is ( dn't knw abt other states)
an obc person can avail the gen seat as well as reserved seats..so 1st they take admission in gen, then change it if in case they get smthing gud in reserved category...
thats where the student who is equally capable looses the seat( because he is never called fr counselling agn...& admin takes under table to fill it..without taking the capability part into consideration!!!)
SO IF IN CASE HE HAS GOT THE RESERVED CATEGORY...HE SHUD AVAIL THAT ONLY...AS THEN ITS NT THE MATTER OF CONSCIENCE , ITS RATHER A DISTRIBUTION PLAN THAT GOVT HAS PLANNED FR EVERYONE,THE OBC & FR GEN( TAKE GEN ALSO A QUOTA, THEN U WILL UNDERSTAND!!!)
dn't we people avail the facility of state quota in our respective exams...thats the way govt has planned..
BUT here the pt is govt is taking seats out of gen quota to add in fr obc ....
& tahts what is nt logical...
may a bit descriptive but have to take an example....
if in a village there are 50 people.....25 children .....1 class( at the max can have 15 students), 5 teachers...
out of 25 ,say 14 girls ,11 boys.....
if villagers doesn't let 10 girs to study fr watevr reason...
class strength becomes 15!!!!ideal condn ...techer student ratio is 5:15 or 1:3...
but if smone changes the screnario ....
*1st case:let the class strength be 15 only...& presurrize to keep 8 girls & 7 boys...then although it will seem to be a gud step to help girl child study...but if u think from head..as the mindset of their parents is nt changed...still only 4 girls will be able to study * 3 boys will loose their seats...
* 2nd case:he increases the strength to whooping 20, then 10 g:10 b...without inc teachers & another classroom..then also..it will nt help..
so, the planning shud be done in this way that it shud nt effect the capable boys studies & arents shud be persuaded to go fr girl education before taking such bold decision..the ideal plan shud be:
1. interact with parents,let them knw the value..
2.chk whether girls will be able to contd with boys...will it help them if they are insame class,or shud their be another class fr them??
3. if 1&2 satisfies..then infrastructure shud be build along with intake of teachers...
4. whn all plans of pros & cons discussed fully then let the girl intake be more ....
here the diff is just take the position of girl child as "OBC" & TAHT OF BOYS AS"GEN"
so THE PT WHICH GOVT IS LACKING IS JUST OF " GUD PLANNING"
OTHERWISE I REALLY DN'T THINK SO THAT OUR CITIZENS..OF WHATEVER CAST ARE IN ANY CASE LESS FROM US..
these are the realities where these families have nt availed any reservation ...just have taken financial help from ngo's..
*rickshaw puller has his wife doing b.tech from iit...
* one girl of a rackpicker is soon becoming a doctor...
