Internship is one such thing that every student aspires for during his/her academic years. In recent times companies are recruiting interns. It is important to remember to give interns exciting and challenging work. Show the intern how their internship is directly correlated to the growth and/or profitability of the company. It is beneficial to allow interns to have the option to work "virtually" A virtual internship allows the student to be flexible in terms of their internship work hours, work days and most importantly work location.

If companies plan things properly they can get interns working for you ; hence don’t forget to highlight how the internship will benefit the intern. Will it lead to a job with the company? Will it give the intern new pieces for his/her portfolio?

Talk about company culture.

Be honest about the work the intern will be doing. If it's mostly photocopying and filing, the intern will find out eventually, so be upfront about it. Better that you find someone willing to put in some hard work than someone who quits after the first day because the job isn't as glamorous as the ad suggested.

Internships usually last for 3-4 months. The best time to recruit for interns is 2-3 months in advance of the upcoming semester when students are determining their course schedules. If you have a budget that allows for a small hourly wage, you will attract more applicants.

Ask for referrals. It’s easy to get referrals from your past interns, especially right at the conclusion of their internship.

And, you can easily find out through your interns fulfilling a class requirement the contact information of their professor so that you may directly follow up with the professor to find your next semester intern.
