Hutch is brought to you by Hutchison Telecom, one of the world’s leading cellular service providers. They are known for their innovative approach and world class technology. Their goal is to provide you superior products and services, anytime and anywhere.

Their values are “To be fair and transparent in what we do and how we do it. To provide you quality services with more customer friendly practices. To make your communications experience simple, pleasurable and fun. Where you don't simply get technology - but technology that is relevant. Where solutions are not just promised in the future - but delivered in the present.”

Hutchison established its presence in India in 1994, through a joint venture with Max India Limited. In 1995, Hutchison Max Telecom became the first operator in India to launch its cellular service.

Today, Hutchison is the one of the largest providers of cellular services in India with presence in all the major regions - Orange in Mumbai and Hutch in Gujarat, Kolkata, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Delhi and Chennai.
It is also the country's largest roaming operator, with a more extensive network in India and around the world than any other operator.

It is part of the Hong Kong based multinational conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa Limited, a Fortune 500 company, and one of the largest companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Its operations span 36 countries across the Asia Pacific region, Europe and the Americas.

Hutchison affiliates jointly account for the largest number of cellular subscribers in India numbering over 2 million.

Hutchison Essar, the first among the four cellular licensees in India enjoys the advantage of being the first into the market. Its generic strategy is however more in the line of cost leadership with it’s tactics generally following that of the market leader. Case in point being the tactic of Hutch in offering free SMS and reducing tariffs right in the footsteps of Bharti doing the same.

Hutchinson has a handicap that other top players do not have – its inability to provide comprehensive suite of services unlike its major competitors. Hence it has to follow a strategy of reducing its costs once its monopolistic hold on the market was broken by the appearance of the other players.

Owing to its initial entry into the market and keeping its costs competitive Hutch has been able to garner sufficient market share, which has put it among the top players.
