How to motivate the veterans?

Hi,
In every organisation, there are veterans, who are not so kind towards work. Please come out with some experiences and suggestions to tackle these people to achieve a win-win situation.
 
I feel that we must respect their experince whatever it it but it should be documented and show them what they have achived new every year. And always mention how important your earlier experince it is
 
well...the key to handle them is to remember that they have a reservoir of knowledge of the industry...so u just can't command authority over them...give them utmost respect...be polite to them...u need to take them into confidence so that they support u and are willing to try the 'change'...once they see the results and realise they have been a part of it, that their work has been appreciated, they will be all the more helpful
 
Who said Chinese products dont have quality??? China produces most stuffs for USA... even surgical blades are made from china!
 
the ways to achieve this goal are:-
1) REALIZATION - make the employee realize how important his work is, for the other departments, for his coleagues and for the company as whole. this incorporates a feeling of resonsibility in the person.
2) fixinf rewards and incentives can be another good way to motivate some1 perform better. but monitory motivation does'nt work for everybody.
 
The veterans with their white hairs have all the experience in the world along with street smart tactics one needs to run a company.. whereas the youth rides on its freshness, vigor and being alert to the situations.. together both these can proove an effective teal to take on the competition in the market!!
