HOSTEL LIFE

I don't think a hostel life is the best idea for very young children. I have seen too many cases of public school boys and girls becoming walled-in emotionally by the scars left on their mind by their hostelmates.

By the time a kid is ready to go to college however the balance begins to shift in favour of independance and freedom which a hostel (i.e. a residential program provides). Some of my happiest moments were spent as a resident at Uni., interacting with students from various streams - the artists, the poets, the business types. The wild parties and weekly orgies were a quite prized and regular feature. Still miss the mponthly 'Saturday Strip' and monthly "Sunday's for S******"

t is the parents who can guide him properly...nurture him well...etc..but when the parents think that he is ready..he can b sent to a hostel...

Hostel definitely is a big learning curves in anyone's life. The kind of things u learn while living in a hostel can't be done if u a r day-scholar. Definitely there is a diffrence.

Depends if considered for education purpose it is really good but from family point of view it is very bad as you get departed. well hostel life inculcates discipline, makes regular still departing from family n freinds matters.

I've not enjoyed hostel life, but I have been to my institutes hostels and made many great friends there.

People come from all over India, have different values and different backgrounds, different language and catch phrases and you get a mixture of all of it there.

I did not know what "Vella" meant, but now I know half of Delhi uses it. Half our college also started using it later on. We had pet names for everyone according to his traits and everyone was comfortable with whats said in the hostel stays in the hostel.

You are away from your family who is willing to do with most of your BS. Your room mate wont take any of that and will tell you the way he sees it. Ofcourse, everything has two sides and there are good chances of you catching up on bad habits with bad company. You may also completely loose your self esteem if you are the one that bears the brunt of all your colleagues. To each, his own !!

Hostel Life is very important from my point of view as because you learn to take care of yourself in difficult times when your are'nt there with your parents. By the way I was Panchgani Sweet Memories and spended around 5 important years of my life.

Hostel life is for sure necessary... One gets to live out a new phase of his/her own life altogether.....no restrictions , no home , late night parties , but at times u may miss home food and friends back home..

i just hate hostel. no freedom. i have to follow the rules. if not we will taken to penalty or been reported to the discipline teacher. there was once final World Cup. the boys illegally went to the dining hall to see their favourite team playing in the final. the warden did a surprised spot-check then all of them being caught for not obeying the hostel prep time. for those who were the school prefects were suspended. everyone didnt satisfy with the actions taken. hm... simple --> hostel sucks..

I would also like to share that I never got a chance to live the hostel life , but have seen many of ma frnzs living da life and surely they enjoy

I never went to hostel but i definlty want to live life of hostel because in my perception it makes us punctual and teaches us some very important lessons of our life. My friends who live in hostel enjoy as well as sometimes hate hostel life.
Due to restrictions of hostel
But i want to live for sometime in hostel.

hostel life can be taken as a teaching school for one to understand about living on its own with very few resources but it should be taken into consideration that one does not fell into wrong company.
