So here we go…

The curiosity starts with your profile pic or profile image on site. It should be a business photo and not similar to the ones you possess on social networking sites. Your image in formals / blazers suits or complements your profile on LinkedIn.

Secondly the number of connections you make will also determine how active you are on the site and how well connected you are with other professionals on site.

The ones who don’t possess more than 100 connections on site aren’t serious about their connections and connectivity and keenness to stay in touch with professionals.

Check out whether people have recommended that persons profile, recommendations act as an online reference wherein employers can easily log in and access his/her profile info (with permission required on certain sites) recommendations are positive, the words used can provide valuable insights.

These sites can also help us known of the connections, mutual friends how are you connected with the other person.

You may also get to known of groups they have joined their updates in this way you may get an opportunity to view their interests and join in the same if you like the same. In this way you get to know their area of your interest and what’s similar in both of you.

Technically one may be interested to know whether you have installed any apps like WordPress or slide share etc

Important for me the status updates that the users daily, if you don’t update your status daily it means you are either dumb or sleeping partner in partnership terms.

You can increase your referrals and online presence rather online popularity with your word of mouth, users on site can ask ones you have helped or you have been with them long time in the corporate world to recommend their work/profile online. The recommendation given to you get published online and is visible to all, this gets referred unsaid by way of mutual connections.
