yea ... never heard the term the volume is dirty..... but the suggestion given by karma is good...
 
WELL I TRIED EVERTYNHG.......I HAD MY DISK DEFRAGMENTED, CHCKD FOR BAD SECTORS AND EVERTHNG I KNEW STILL NO USE. WHNEVR THR I PUT MY PC FOR CHCKIN OF BAD SECTORS I DONT GET THE MSG..........BUT WHN THR IS DISK CHCK I GET MSG IN THIS WAY...

CHCKIN DRIVE "C"
THE VOLUME IS DIRTY
VOLUME NUMBER ...........

AND THIS MSG WITH ALL DRIVES. I HAV 3 DRIVES.
 
Woah... brother this is a relatively new term so dnt take any extreme measures.... now at last if there is no improvement in this error then go ahead burn that disk down to ashes... i mean format it... and again install the DAMNED windows xp or the 98. and see if it improves. or else ... brace yurself.. ur purse is going to be halka pulka by 3000-4000 rs for your new hard disk.. lol just joking abt new hard disk.. newayz if tht error does not come in the way of your computer use.. why mess with it... carry on soldier..

Leave it. i dont see proper replies on the problems posted in that website... Woooooo Maxdroit... you discovered a new error.. your name would be posted on the book named.. Windows now screws you... lol .... leave it max why mess with it.. if it still bugs you and u have tht thing in your mind i say Format the Operating system.... or else leave it. or best ask a qualified engineer

i use windows xp pro

the problem i face is tht whnever i start my internet, a lot of websites open up automatically.

i have spybot, adaware and spyware doctor installled and regularly keep scanning my comp.

i even scanned it in safe mode.

but the problem persists.

please help.

hmm use a small app called startcpl.. or just type msconfig at start - run - and chk what all apps start when you start your comp.. disable stuff you dont need and then chk again..
update your spyware apps too..

Well the solution provided by godzi would be applilcable only if u having probs with to many software opening up or pc slowing down.. but as u said tht wen u connect to ur browser lots of sites tend to open.. My best guess would be chck out ur add/remove program list and see if u can find a software which you hvnt dwnlded or not using... Try doing that and ofcoure chck with another antivirus..!! Try the updated 1 this time..!!!:big_grin:
 
Is there a way in which one can save the streaming audio .. say played from a site like raaga.com for example

Every software on net is a freeware, when one can download sp2 from the net..

Windows does stop a lot of unnecessary services but not all the unnecessary services and this does lead to a slowdown besides this if a lot of programs hav been instlled some of them tend to get loaded on startup due to the default settings players like winamp messengers like yahoo and msn etc unnessary if not in use. This also hogs memory and slows down the system and the problem with xp is that if an item in the startup tray has not been used for long it is hidden from view but is actually still in the memory.
