There are basically two type of data, primary and secondary. In research work we usually tend to collect secondary only when the primary data is maintained but, if the primary data is unavailable then we have to first carry on with it. The best part of primary data is that it is collected within organisation, with all the information they have generated. Primary becomes the source of the research and in absent of secondary data, you can rely on primary data.
