Education and success - Is there a correlation?

I cannot say there is no correlation. But success does not only depend on education. It is more of the experience we earned with our mistakes and failiures.
 
For the discussion, I am assuming 'Education' means any knowledge or experience gained from formal institution. But there is problem in defining 'Success' because it varies from person to person, every person will love to be as rich as Bill Gates or Dhirubhai Ambani but given the uncertainty and risk involved in the path that can lead to that level, very few people will be choosing that route. Most of the people take paths that are certain and safer, thats why most of the people choose to work for the few brave. That doesn't mean they are unsuccessful, they defined their success in different way like
getting a job in Microsoft, developing a new product for Microsoft. If these people were unsuccessful, then Bill Gates also would have been unsuccessful. A person can become successful with or without education based on his definition of success. If wealth is the definition of success then education is not necessary.
 
well,....i wud say there's a degree of correlation bw the two....with a proper education , if nothing else den u atleast feel more confident....there's a psychological connection bw eduaction n d level of confidence...ofcourse,..the success factor also depends a lot on the possession of other qualities like ur passion...n d will to achieve smtn....talking abt bill gates or smone else...they may hv dropped out...bt dey had the enthusiasm n d zeal to do smtn...wich made up fr their lack of education.....cheeerrzz!!!
 
Well the richest people don't have PHD's, just good ideas. So they are smart, and just because they don't have high degrees dosen't mean they don't have the knowlege. Bill Gates was smart enough to know that getting a higher degree or a degree would have cost him every thing he has today because the time to capitalize on the market was when he did, not another 3 years or so down the road.

To be sucessful you simply need to know enough about the industry you intend to enter, I suppose the more information or knowlege you have about it the more succesful you will be. If you want to start a software company it would require lots of technical knowlege. If you want to start a luxury resturant you need to know about luxury cuisine. You don't have to have a PHD for making a resturant menu but you may need some secrect family recipies. You could be very successful at either, but it just depends on how the market looks, and what you have the skills and desires for.
 
i dont think there is much of correlation between both coz we have a list of example who have proved to be success without education

being sucessfull requires u to be passionate and visionary and focused toward your goal
Education can give an impetous to you journey but is not directly proportional to sucess.
Even the most educated person cannot be successful if he not passionate not visionary not focused.
 
Education and Success are two different paradigms where education just gives knowledge to a person. But whereas success can be tasted only by those who strive hard, learn continuously, use their instincts diligently and listen to others with so much humility.
 
It depends actually.... But most of the time, yes, success depends on education... but, there are many exception to this rule as for some school dropouts ruling the chart of the person with most money ;)
 
a simple formula:
inborn talent + less education = successful
average talent + great education = successful

not all of us can be bill gates/ steve jobs.. thats for a fact.. we can aspire to be like them but if we know ourselves that we lack the talent to perform at their level then we need that education :D

I disagree, steve jobs did not have any education. I think its more to do with the hustler attitude that gets you success.

You got to keep doing, you got to keep connecting, you got to keep hustling to be successful.
 
EDUCATION-The act or process of imparting or acquiring particular knowledge or skills, as for a profession.

SUCCESS-.Achievement of an action within a specified period of time or within a specified parameter.
As explained above the meaning of the two terminologies.There is no particular correlation between education and success.Its not necessary to be successful one should have a higher degree from reputed institute.In reality success depends on how much efforts one puts in the hunger one has to achieve the dream.
 
Yes.Education and Success are correlated.Some times Success doesn't comes with education.But after achieving success,education is important to get additional knowledge.
 
There is no literal correlation between education and success.Its not always compulsory that one has to be educated to be successful. Success can be achieved through sincere dedication and handwork as well.Its not necessary that one has to be highly educated to be successful.Success can be in various ways.Success can be in achieving dreams,for a student success can be in achieving best rank.For a farmer success can be in getting the best yield of production.
But yes when things come related to profession education plays an important role.
 
Educations is not directly related to success but, it depends on what factors do you consider. It is very important for the businessman to continuously update themselves by knowing more about market and how to expand their business. Education is must , there are very few success stories and if we related them the results would be nada. Education plays vital role to brush your skills and allow you stand at the top of the success ladder.
 
I think we are taking education very lightly. Education includes knowledge gained through classrooms, society, Friends views ,self views
gained by experience and by self family members etc. So education is must for success . Degree is only one form of education.

Education, self goal making after seeing opportunity, passion ,dedication and execution are called success.
