Do Indians spend too much on weddings?

hell yeah...when it comes down to marriage indians do prove that marriages r not made in heaven but across india where unnecessary huge amounts are spent to maintain the status quo...

money doesn't matter on occasion and specially when things once come in your life then we should not see our pocket flow

personally, i do think that indians nowadays are spending lot of money on their wedding itself. Ithink that they should oso think about after the wedding, they have to buy house, honeymoon, car, investment, children, parents... so they should plan their finance properly.

yea.. Indians spend recklessly on marriges. As most of us would agree dat this is a special occassion for Indians which is no less than a festival,,.. and that's why we indians want to throw the best possible treat for our family and friends... But i feel its more of show off especially in North India now a days. I personally think feeding the one who has not had a meal since days is a better idea than feeding a person who can afford more than 3 meals a day...

Its true that indians spend too much on wedding... instead of spiend too much , we should help to poor families..

I think that most people spend a lot of money on weddings. It is a special day that everyone want to remember so money needs to be spent in order to achieve what they want.

Indians spend more than their global peers on wedding, but when you look at our global peers, marriage is an occasion for them and it is moment that they want to remember in a different manner. But for we Indians, marriage is the most important occasion in our life, so we share our joy with our friends & relatives.

Meeting every one becomes a part even if you spent less, so i think even this point should be considered of spending less at marriages.

This is what i feal.

Yes, we spend too much in Wedding but i dont think that only Indians do so .. ..
if you notice than many of Celebs from HOLLYWOOD spend millions and billions of DOLLARS in their wedding...
aur vaise bhi for INDIANS WEDDING in concerned as TURNING POINT OF LIFE ...and Its important part of life for both parents as well as for those who are getting married...

I dont feel there is any issue in spending money in Wedding when one can afford it....

Indians Make Money Through Weddings Dude... The Gifts, Money Gifted.... Etc... Spending 5 Lacs And Earning 4 Lacs..... Just To Make Their Wedding A grand One... But In End... They Made A Business Out Of it... .With Celebrating It SuccessfullY!!

Yes we do!No 2 thoughts about that! People try to make it as grand as possible,no matter how much money goes into it! People take loans!I think it's a very sacred and pious thing and just requires first feelings, love, understanding and then a little bit of money to carry with the chores!

And to double that this concept was reaffirmed when you see shows like "The Big fat Indian wedding" and stuff like that!

I think people should invest money in something which deoesen' involve any limitless grandeur and magnificence, nothing should be spent more than the the pocket ! Rather,if the excess money is put in some social work and stuff, that will be much beneficial!

No, the chinese spend more on weddings in my opinion..there is a lot more wealth in china and Hong Kong than India

WEDDINGS EXPENSE DEPENDS UPON A PERSON STATUS....EVEN SOMETIMES MARRIAGES HAPPEN IN TEMPLE...AS ALL KNOW THAT IT WEDDING HAPPENS ONCE SO WHY NOT MAKE IT A SUCCESSFUL ONE
