Hi,

Could anyone please highlight the difference between CAT and CMAT?

I am aware that CMAT has GK section while, CAT does not. CAT is considered as one of the toughest Aptitude Test to crack in the world.

Is the syllabus for CAT and CMAT the same? Like for Quant, DI and LR?
Is it also because of the nature of questions that is asked in CAT is more advanced than CMAT?

Thanks in advance

Rajiv

CMAT exam has 100 multiple choice questions, with total marks of 400 and time duration of 180 minutes approx and CAT has 60 multiple choice questions to be attempted in time duration of 2 hours and 15 minutes.

CMAT has four sections, including logical reasoning, quantitative techniques and data interpretation, general awareness, and language comprehension.

and CAT has Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Quantitative Aptitude, and Verbal Ability.

MAJOR DIFFERENCE : Between CAT and CMAT

CAT: Sections are timed individually; each of the sections will be 1 hour and 10 minutes (i.e. 70 minutes). Aspirants will be presented with the section on quantitative ability & data interpretation first, followed by verbal ability & logical reasoning.

CMAT: “Major difference in the two tests – CMAT has GK section while, CAT does not. The general awareness section for any exam is a tricky proposition as theoretically, the syllabus has not limits! Students need to concentrate on accuracy which in effect will impact the final scores. There will be 25 questions in each section. The duration of test will be 180 minutes, with no break during this time window. Students can move back and forth between sections, unlike CAT & NMAT this year. This would mean that the sections are not timed individually, and that the onus is on the students to manage timing between the sections, while ensuring that they show their competency in all the sections”.
