Dare to take Risks__Part 4

Failure to take a decision after due consideration of all the facts will quickly brand a man unfit for a position of responsibility.

#Harvey W. Andrews

The Organizational tell-tales have a Odysseus-like hero who reins in the disorganized forces and decides on maverick ideas like the Trojan-Horse ; which eventually work out fabulously. But nowadays even Odysseus who had Troy kneeling will crumble in the intense corporate battle Arena. Those kinds of unilateral decisions may not be optimal for the current scenario where the stake holders are numerous and the accountable are a select few.

More often than not ; managers jump in without a swimsuit and end up getting rashes. It is of prime importance to try out different sizes of swim briefs/suits in the shop before taking the plunge. In other words adhering to a chosen strategy will be beneficial for all parties involved.

Now we ask what should be the nature of these strategies………

· It should make way for a rational decision, taking the speed-breakers into account before clinching the accelerator.

· It should be approved to some extent by the people who are going to execute in on the field.

· It should be drafted in the stipulated time frame.

· It should conceal confidential bits and have provisions to increase harmony, team work etc.

But strategizing as I said in point three shouldn’t constraint the actual execution and launch of the product as :

A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds.

#Mark Twain
