Mum Univ at its best - CCEE postponed !!!!
Mum Univ once again shows its managerial (in)ability yesterday. Here is the report from the Times of India, Mumbai. The CCEE has been postponed to the next week.
Chaos at Mithibai over hall tickets
Mumbai: Pandemonium reigned at Mithibai College, the centre for the second year BMS (Bachelor in Management Studies) examination, as over 5,000 students who were to appear for the exam on Sunday had not received their hall tickets till the last hour.
Late in the evening, Mumbai University postponed the exam to June 11.
Dr Madhav Welling, principal of Mithibai College, tried to calm the crowd. He told TOI, “An agency was appointed to conduct the exam by the university and to ensure that all the hall tickets were sent. We are not responsible for this chaos.’’
Hours before the examination, which was to take place on Sunday, students had descended on the Mithibai campus for the hall tickets. Tempers were frayed and minor fights broke out between the agency charged with distributing the hall tickets and the students and parents.
“I have been waiting here since 10 am and I have still not received my admit card. We’ve been sitting in a room all day, there is no information. Our parents have been waiting outside and we have had nothing to eat,” said Harishta Bhanushale who came from Thane to receive her hall ticket.
She was one of the many students who fainted from the lack of food and the tension they were made to endure.
Poonam Savla, who had also not received her hall ticket inspite of waiting for six hours said, “A lot of fights have broken out. The police had to be called to calm down the students as some boys broke chairs and tables in the class.’’
S V Savant, father of one of the candidates said, “According to the instructions to the candidate, if the admit cards are not received, the candidate has to collect a duplicate from the centre on the day before the exam.’’ Many candidates and parents were left standing in the rain as the building was already packed with students.
Sneha Paduke, who had come from Badlapur to collect her hall ticket said, “After all this commotion I have lost interest in giving the exam. I had prepared for two months but now I am completely exhausted and angry.’’
