heyyy m interested in stock market..how is it related if a want 2 pursue MBA in finance??
how r the BSE n NSE courses....?
m gettin a chance 2 learn in motilal oswal brokers...is it bettr 2 wrk here thn a course(BSE,NSE)??

aankit

i really dont think that you can work with a broker without having appropriate certifications from BSE/NSE. NSE however doesn't offer any course, instead it offers certifications. You may probably with some good knowledge can pass this examination. Whats more you are getting a good opportunity from a reputed broker. Go and work, you will get good knowledge after you work. Just doing the course is not enough, proper applications of the same will surely benefit you.

Good luck!!

i am complete blank in stock market...n i wanna learn about this feild..how should i go about with this????

i think you probably should enroll yourself in BSE courses. They have number of courses and go for the one which actually suits you. You would acquire good knowledge. BSE conducts Basic Course on stock markets. That should be useful for you

the SENSEX includes 30 stocks which you can find it on BSE website. Each share is given certain weights and these 30 shares represent the index. As the value of these shares change every now and then, the change is then multiplied to its assigned weights. Weights are assigned as free float market capitalisation/total free float market capitalisation. These weighted change is summed up and you can see how much the index has moved in either ways.

You can get free float of all the stocks on bse website

Cn sm1 plz explain beta, itz contruction and itz application .....
....... thanks in advance

Beta represents the slope of regression and measures the responsiveness of the security to general market movements. It indicates how extensively the return of the portfolio/security will vary wrt changes in market rate of return.

Theoretically, if the beta is 1.2 and the index gives return of 10%, then the security/portfolio will give 10*1.2 = 12% return.

Value of beta can be arrived in many ways depending on the data you have. I have mentioned couple of frequently used ways to arrive at the beta value:
1. The value of beta can be arrived through CRL or CAPM model
2. The value of beta can arrived at COVARIANCE/VARIANCE (covar/var)

I usually use covar/var of the returns to calculate the value of beta.
