Are social networking sites like Orkut dangerous

Social networking sites ... like orkut and others ... needs more stringent monitoring from the administer ... which often takes a back seat once the site gets popular ... !!! It is only den ... daat people with ulteriar motives ... try to wrongly use the values of thz social networking sites !!

what i think is .. site like orkut, facebook, hi5, etc can be used for both good n bad intentions ... i mean i stay in touch wid all my skool frnzz only thru orkut ..
 
orkut is a gr8 concept.. a big success!!! now probably a few features can be added on to improve the privacy a user possesses and some security features as well.. all in all a gr8 concept!!
 
well well well.... its jus like blaming the matchstick...
its totally how u use it, for wht purpose u use it...
u see if used properly... venom makes anti-venom... but if "handled without care" even small nails can prove fatal...

so is the bone of contention is held by "social" networkin sites...
here if we don't know where to draw lines... u get pulled into it... da blackhole i.e. fun and profession for (hackers and psychos)

we must know dat its a double edged sword; if not known which way to swing it...u may end up cuttin ur own body part...

bottom line: use it at ur own risk...as u know its a shallow pool of sweet water where every predator lays his trap to get a prey(which is u) its jus like any trouble..."dont trouble trouble, or trouble troubles u"
 
frankly speaking ..these sites are a good way to keep in touch with people whom you cannot communicate much....but these sites must be used within limits and only for the purpose they are meant for....[/FONT][/FONT]
 
exactly banning d site at this stage wen its already so popular is not d rt solution instead a proper strict check can help a lot n banning only those profiles n communities wch r spam........
 
i think social networking sites wont be all that dangerous if preventive steps are taken from starting itself. better not post all ur personal information on such sites. use it safely to stay safe.
 
it depends on how each participant behaves - hence there should be a guideline and checks to counter misguided actions
 
networking sites are becoming in other sense. when we were child we wolud go out to socialize. Todays children don't go out to socialize they use their computers. they may be good at writing in the future but when it comes to talking they fail :(

everything has some pros and cons. social networking sites are also helping everyone a lot. there should be some identity confirmation by the social networking sites before anyone joins.
