After 12th STD- college or BPO?

Most the people passing out of 12th standard are busy getting their resumes ready for Call-centers/BPOs rather than looking for colleges. After joining BPOs and getting some pay cheques they are enrolling for any correspondance course/distant education programs.I agree they will all get degree certificates. But they all miss the most imp part of the life namely college life. Moreover, the qualification for entering the BPOs are all 12th Std level. But all the above activities adversly affects:

1)No.of.People pursuing higher studies.Peer pressure discourages them to go to job than doing higher studies.
2)No.of .Phd's or no.of people going for research are reducing drastically.

Prior IT boom, majority of the students will pursue atleast their Undergraduation and try to search for job in the industry. But after the IT boom even 10th/12th std students are entering the employement industry.

Do you think it as a healthy trend?

I wud say this trend can be reversed if the BPOs raise their min. qualification to the undergraduates (maybe the proportion of graduates from a Fulltime course to part-time/Distant/Correspondance course can be kept low.)

This wud make the people to enrol for colleges rather than becoming employees st from school.

college buddy.....or u'll spoil ur future.
this country needs many young souls in its phase of transition from a developing country to a developed country.
continue studies if u have got the previlage.
cheers.........

I guess college is a better option. if someone is not economically strong then he can do the BPO during the vacation and that will add to his experience also.

as said by all ma fellow mates above i guess deepak u got ur ans to it
most of them do perfer colll
but yea there is a growing tendency where ppl wana earn rathere than studin
n when u earn so much of money(15000-24000) who wants to study
we are lossin on capable ppl here
hmmm wat can be done then ... i guess there is only one way out the qualification level should be increased the person should atleast have a graduation degree coz u cant work in a bpo for life long right ....

Joining a BPO soon after 12th is a short time gain. If we take an example of person joining BPO soon after 12th see the growth of the person:

after 1 year: Would get Good experience in communicating with overseas clients. good perks. good hike in salary

after 2 years: would get a promotion. starts learning skills of leadership. hike in salary

after 3 years: would get a promotion. starts leading a small Team. raise in salary.

after 4 years: would not get a promotion since no qualification as per requirement of industry. have to work under a qualified and less experienced person. less salary hike.

after 5 years: he will repent on what he has done all these years.

So think always Education is Powerful. So I would advice people to Continue their education even if they join BPO for part-time job and give more concentration in studies.

college is d best option goin directly to a bpo is no good thng wat experience n learning u get in college u wont get it in any job to get trainin in bpo is ok but not continuous job as college is to learn make mistakes n become perfect u cant afford to do tht at ur job place..........

bpo cannot work out for life long...ofcourse ppl need to study atleast till graduation.. whch will make their carrier more storng for their future..

so for my thinking college time is an important stage wr we earn lot of things, till this students are not fully mature about life different stages in college learn lot of things.

there is a proverb "no knowledge without college.

i guess working after 12th standard z nt a bad option.....if sm1 z getting a good salary package then 1 should go fr d job.....moreover every1 z free to choose between college n job....by working at a younger age students can also help their famalies in case they r financialy weak.......
here i would like to drag ur attention 2 another imp point....d level of education z nt realy good in our country.....even after doing masters degree 1 gets a job of mere few thousand bucks....so if sm1 z getting tht much after doing 12th then its a wise move.....
n as far as knowledge is concerned the study pattern most of the colleges r following is nt worth....a person can learn better by experience......
so its better 2 hv sm experience after 12th or graduation n then go fr higher studies at sm premier institutes rather thn studying in traditional colleges which is not realy worth
