Most the people passing out of 12th standard are busy getting their resumes ready for Call-centers/BPOs rather than looking for colleges. After joining BPOs and getting some pay cheques they are enrolling for any correspondance course/distant education programs.I agree they will all get degree certificates. But they all miss the most imp part of the life namely college life. Moreover, the qualification for entering the BPOs are all 12th Std level. But all the above activities adversly affects:
1)No.of.People pursuing higher studies.Peer pressure discourages them to go to job than doing higher studies.
2)No.of .Phd's or no.of people going for research are reducing drastically.
Prior IT boom, majority of the students will pursue atleast their Undergraduation and try to search for job in the industry. But after the IT boom even 10th/12th std students are entering the employement industry.
Do you think it as a healthy trend?
