Advice for studying SSM.....please take it seriously!!

Guys, as some of you might be knowing, I'm a TYBMS student from NM College.
Having just given my Sem V exams, I have one piece of advice for you..

Whatever you do, just DON'T BUY ROMEO MASCARENHAS' book for studying SSM.

It's a horrible, pathetic, wretched, contemptible, despicable, atrociously bad book. I recommend that you look at a better author such as Christopher Lovelock.

Mr. Mascarenhas knows jack-sh1t about the service sector, and most of his explanations are just plain dumb. He keeps repeating himself over and over again, all over the book. Most of time it's painfully obvious that the guy himself is unaware of the subject on which he's "authoring" (or should I say plagiarising) a book on.

I've suffered from using Mascarenhas' book, like countless others. Don't make the same mistake.....

Firstly, I agree with what Anupam is saying...

In my opinion, Romeo mascarehnas book isnt worth reading , Christopher Lovelock and Jhethmal are worth reading.

I also agree with Milind, when he says , profs are reading this .

But.. and thats a big BUT .. I dont want anyone to restrict themselves while expressing their opinion. Shoot , abuse, accuse, speak whatever you wish to ..

In my opinion the words used by Anupam best describe the book and he couldnt be more correct.

PS : Freedom of speach over here wouldnt mean you can use the " DESI " slang which would really piss someone off :) .

PPS : This is the Cool forum . Be free , Be open !!

Look, I call a spade a spade. I have actually *suffered* from using that book, and I have the best interests of our members at heart.

Oh alright, so I'll put it in a more subtle manner.

Everyone, I just loved Mr. Mascarenhas' book. He's one of the greatest authors; India's answer to Philip Kotler.
I was unaware of his tremendous linguistic abilities when I bought his book; I was in for a surprise. I studied from that book, and it helped me score around 30-35 marks in SSM. Without that book, I would've scored a measly 40 or 45.

The explanations given are wonderful; I mean, this is the first time I've seen that you can actually know nothing about something and still harp on about it as if you're a maestro as far as that subject is concerned.

Please note the sarcasm.

Sure, I know that, having been associated with it for a long time.
Regards, and no offense meant.

Hey Guys Thanks For your Advice
Really Romeo Mascarehnas is not worth reading at all, This is the worst book by Vipul Prakshan

plz post ur advice on other subjects too.................would be helpful for me in sem-5

Glad that people agree with me largely.

Vijith, I think you'd be well-served reading books not published by Vipul Prakashan.....unless of course you set your sights on just gaining a passing grade.

Tata-McGraw Hill is one very good publisher.......their books are a bit more detailed, but a lot better as far as quality (of the subject matter) is concerned.

Well ya seriously if u going for books like vipul prakashan and manan prakashan and all they might give u the last minute pointers but not the knowledge of that very subject. Reference books are much better option if you really want to understand what you are doing.. If it's just about clearing the papers well vipul prakashan surely gives u an edge as it clears you near the boundary line..

hii A.J
