Advertising....BOON OR CURSE?

i am an advertising student . where im learning about advertising and its benefits ...please share your views.
 
i think it is a very subjective topic on which one could debate for hours without reaching any conclusion. I feel in a market economy this issue is not worthwhile of pursuit.
 
Advertising is a must in todays world. If one doesnt want to get influenced, its better not to. But from a company's stand point, its a must for survival, even if its the best product in the world, people must know about it. So nothing wrong about it.
 
Well, in my opinion, i would say it's both a boon and a curse. Boon because it provides revenue, employment opportunities etc etc.... Curse, because advertisement can be used for promotion of unhealthy and unfavorable ideas, products and so on...
 
Advertising can turn a brand into boon when used properly.Think about the brand "Vodafone".Don't you recollect the word "Zoozoo". The ZooZoos have turned around the brand. Ads can also spoil the party. Think about the Airtel ads now.Previously, I used to love the Airtel ads but nowadays they are not able to create so much impact.

So,Ads can be a boon or a bane depending on how they are used.

Advertising is a very creative and dynamic subject. I feel it depends on your potential and creativity. As the trends in advertisement is rapidly changing, being on your toes should be a pre-requisite.
 
Advertising absenteeism would result heavy loss in the economy and we have to suffer huge loss in the market. However it can be diplomatic, advertising was invented to inform consumer about the product available in the market. Advertising image is tarnished by prevalent use of wrong form of advertising and messages conveyed but, there are advertising which inform people the accurate and precise information. Advertising is boom but, little bit of modification required.
