This Thursday morning presented nominations for the Academy Awards, and as always there were trends and surprises in store for us. Here's management lessons we learned from Oscar nominations .
1.) Experience Counts. Setup a great team and get a lot of gray haired guys on board.
Meryl Streeps who is 60, Judi Dench, 79 and not much surprisingly June Squibb, 84, were nominated for best actress or best supporting actress roles. Get them old and as we know old wine tastes heaven.
2.) Diversity matters, but not at the stake of winning.
This year a number of notable movies starring or directed by were of people with diverse cultures and colors, but did any of them get a win? Remember the person who said "Winning is not everything" ? Well neither do we, because winning is everything. Don't get diversity inclusion get to your head when reaping profits. Employ the best of the guys who will help you reach your goals.
3.) There's no real formula for success.
This year Disney backed movies and the bigger Hollywood star-cast clad movies did not perform well but smaller one's which were distinctive did the trick. There's no real formula for success and many a times, the amateurs make a win. As someone said " The titanic was built by professionals and google, yahoo, microsoft, apple, facebook, twitter was built by amateurs. So give whatever you believe in a fair shot.
I'd love to see you guys fill the 4 and 5 with your replies below . Awaiting your thoughts
